Congratulations to the Dynamic Owners of ELDER PRICE a 3yo gelding by our Cox Plate winning hero
SAVABEEL from the mare
ON BROADWAY (by Pins), on his
first WIN at start number four of his young racing career.
ELDER PRICE is our
cleverly named son of
Savabeel. He is named after the star character of the hit stage show
BOOK OF MORMONS, historically the Most Successful show -
On Broadway!
Purchased from the
NZ Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sales from the
Waikato Stud draft,
ELDER PRICE is a promising middle-distance galloper in the making. under the care of
GAI WATERHOUSE & ADRIAN BOTT.
ELDER PRICE ($6.00) took control and led all the way to claim an
easy and dominating 1.42 length win in the Hunter Valley Premium Meats Maiden Handicap 1600m over the Snowden trained Hit The High Note ($4.60) with the odds-on favourite Costa Zou ($1.50) a further 0.33 lengths back in third in a time of 1:38.20 running home a final 600m 35.82.
ELDER PRICE ridden by
Lee Magorrian, jumped on terms and after 50m took up the lead.
He relaxed well, travelled nicely and he was able to dictate a decent tempo through to the 600-metre mark.
Lee asked
ELDER PRICE to extend just prior to entering the straight and he slipped two lengths on his peers as the field balanced for the run home.
ELDER PRICE gave a good kick approaching the 300 metres and he kept responding gamely to the pressure all the way to the line to record a comfortable 1.42 lengths win.
Jockey Lee Magorrian said,
"He was brilliant today. He jumped nicely and put himself in the race. He travelled well and when I asked him to go and win his race, he couldn't have been gamer and more willing to the line."

Whilst we can’t speak to the quality of his peers,
ELDER PRICE was dominant in victory and it's no surprise to see him well suited by this step up in trip, as he's always been a stayer in the making.
ELDER PRICE has a lovely attitude and a real will to win, and this will stand him in good stead to progress through his grades.
This was just his second start for the preparation. In his first preparation he had two race starts but wasn’t mature mentally or physically. He had always shown in trackwork he wanted ground but wasn’t strong enough at that time.
A six-month spell he resumed over an unsuitable 1300m, first up on a heavy track at Goulburn. That day he was a victim of an extremely poor judged ride where he took off before acceptances and was pushed along from the 800m to naturally tire out of the race.
Second up and straight out to a mile, back on a Good 4 surface, despite not being wound up and not yet being at a trip that will ultimately suit him best, and importantly, ridden far more patiently,
ELDER PRICE has delivered the result we trusted he could. He can springboard from this to add more wins to his resume and is certainly a horse with plenty of upside to mark down as a horse to follow.
Congratulations to ALL our OWNERS of ELDER PRICE on a brilliant win, our TEAM at DYNAMIC are delighted you: Dynamic no 66, Mr M J Chittick, Ms C Barclay, Ms K Jarratt, Mr I J Middleton, Mrs A J Ford, C J R Racing, Mr C J Sheehan, Mr J N Allen, Mr MJ Millner, Mr D L Fallon, Mr S P Loane, Mr H C Leung, Mr A Bolton, Mrs N J Dickson, Mr M W Kosturjak, Mr D M Spangler, Mr L Slade, Dynamic no 67, Dynamic no 68
