Dynamic Owners GRACED with Maiden Win by Their Mare
Dynamic Owners GRACED with Maiden Win by Their Mare

In racing its about winning and whilst we all want to be winners at Randwick or Flemington, sometimes little fish are sweet as was the case on Saturday when regally bred staying mare
GRACED
hit the line in front to claim a well deserved win at the Sky 2 meeting at
“
Royal
”
Tumut Turf Club.
Tumut Turf Club is one of the longest established race clubs in NSW and has been a constant heartbeat of country racing since it was established in
1859
some
A tight turning track with just a 200m home straight, it’s a circuit that favours on pace horses that can hold the fence with its short run home.
So taking a big, rangy mare, void of early pace, and asking her to handle the tricky layout was going to be thwart with danger at the best of times. Especially a mare bred to want 2000m and further, who was just second up from a spell for her new trainer at a short 1400m was a potential recipe for disaster.
Added to the equation was the mare had form that read 4 starts for 4 duck eggs and had resumed over 1200m first up and was run off her feet.
However, that didn’t stop our Team at Dynamic deciding that this was still the right race to get the job done and break her maiden, gaining some confidence before trying to find some races in the district over a further trip.
Expected to be a Sky 2 country meeting, as luck would have it, the wet weather over the weekend resulted in the loss of the provincial meeting at Wyong, and the Tumut meeting was elevated onto Sky Central where it attracted a lot of eyeballs.
Young Wagga based trainer Darrell Burnet
was identified as a trainer on the rise in the district and our owners backed our judgement to send their mare to Darrell after she wasn’t coping with the city style training environment.
The Sky Commentator Graeme White made
GRACED
his
“Bet of the Day”
and the punters didn’t miss her either, opening at $3.10 into $2.40 then a surge of money saw her firm into odds-on and start $1.90.
To be fair, despite the formlines heading into the
“Royal”
Tumut races,
she was taking previous provincial formlines into a genuine bush maiden and deserved to be the price quoted, However the race had potential risks and despite many of those risks coming to fruition during the running of the event, class shone through and our mare broke her maiden in fine style to become

Ridden by the best rider in the district in
Pierre Boudvillain,
Pierre was sent to the barriers to be as positive as he could early then get into a rhythm and hold-up as long as possible and if we got back in a hot tempo then stick to the fence as that certainly was the favoured track position.
As the gates clanged back,
GRACED
from barrier 3 was pushed along to hold her position, but typical of a stayer in a sprint, she was run off her feet early by the early set tempo.
She was urged to hold the forward position but simply couldn’t, so her rider elected to drop back from the speed and ride the fence for luck.

600m
This would see him back on the fence with only one or two behind us over the first 600m of the race.
400m
Passing the 400m marker Pierre still hadn’t moved on our mare, and then at the 380m pushed the go button and our mare responded quickly pulling back a couple of lengths as the field thundered around the turn at the 200m.
200m
Still sitting some 3 lengths off the leaders Pierre had to come off heels of a tired leader and wasn’t able to gain a gap to attack until the 150m.

From here
GRACED
dived through when she saw daylight and passing the 100m was still a length off the leader who was full of running down the centre of the track.
50m
Now fully clear and with an uninterrupted gallop to the post
GRACED
extended quickly and such was her closing speed, that with 50m to run had hit the front which allowed our mare to roll to the post and record a widening 0.44 length margin as the camera snapped –
