Dynamic Owners chase 'priceless' Winx memory

Racing.com 20 March: The promise of a wet surface on Saturday has allowed the owners of Dynamic Syndications mare TELEPLAY to indulge themselves by taking up the 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity of racing against possibly the greatest of them all.

Winx has eight rivals as she lines up for her fourth win in the George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday and Teleplay is one of them after it was decided that, alongside the salivating novelty of racing against Winx, there was also a financial upside to taking on the super mare.

"We are giving the owners a ride of a lifetime to compete on Golden Slipper Day against Winx in a Group 1 - it's a priceless once-in-a-life opportunity for our mum and dad owners," said Adam Watt of Dynamic Syndications.

"I've got clients that have already sent me text messages this morning to say how excited they are to have a runner in a Group 1 and taking on the best horse that has ever been.

"She'll beat us 100 yards but we're a chance to run in the first four in a Gr1 with the track going to be so wet.

"When you run a rule around a few of those horses that are outside of Winx, it's not a typical George Ryder Stakes. A few of those better-class horses don't handle wet tracks and we do.

"If we run second, third or fourth well, we've got a memory to last a lifetime and she'd be worth close to $1 million as a broodmare."

Winx was put up a $1.06 favourite after the fields were finalised on Wednesday while Teleplay, who is unbeaten in two Soft-track runs, is a $101 chance.

Trainer Mick Price has the mare in top order and she arrived in Sydney on Thursday morning ahead of her clash against the best in the Gr1 George Ryder over 1500m.

Connections are under no illusions with Teleplay in this field however when mares are at their peak, they should compete.

To date, TELEPLAY has started 8 times for 3 wins; 1 second, 2 thirds and $186,050.

Teleplay has put in sensational runs on Soft Tracks in Melbourne where she is 2 Starts / 2 Wins on rain affected ground.

Also twice when 3rd up from a spell (which she will be in the George Ryder), she has put in peak runs including the Win in the MSS Security Sprint over 1200m at Flemington.

Connections have always been confident that Teleplay wants 1600m so to be up to 1500m at Rosehill on a wet track looks an ideal progression.

Teleplay's last start in the Mannerism Gr3 1400m at Caulfield had flashing lights on it, especially since she was held up back in the field and had a chequered passage over the final 400m of the race when the pattern of the day significantly favoured leaders. Teleplay finished fastest in the race when 1.3 lengths 3rd behind Jamaican Rain and that horse started favourite in last Saturday's Coolmore Classic but didn't handle the Heavy track.

Sectional Stars in Best Bets for Melbourne on 2nd March highlighted Teleplay stating: "In what may become an excellent form reference for the future, she posted the fastest final 200m split recorded in the Mannerism Stakes (11.49). She was only second up on the day. She should be expected to improve."
