The shortest priced favourite of the day won as she was expected she should at Canterbury on Wednesday afternoon.
Sent out an even money favourite, in Race 7, the
Vinery Stud Yearlings Benchmark 72 Handicap, Dynamic Syndications high-quality 4yo mare NARRATED (Snitzel x Fictional Account) was presented in immaculate condition by foreman
Johann Gerard-Dubord and his committed Team from the Warwick Farm based Stables of
Ciaron Maher Racing’s (co-trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace) and she ran accordingly.
NARRATED (58.5kgs) recorded a 1.94 length win over Kouklara (53.0kgs) with Tags (56.5kgs) in third spot a further 0.11 length away.
A gem of a ride by our
“go-too” jet pilot Nash Rawiller ensured from the time the gates crashed back until they crossed the finishing line, the result was never in doubt.
“Straight to the front and improve on your position” were the simple devised tactics and a
masterclass of horsemanship by Nash, saw our
Dynamic Duo peel off very easy mid-race sectionals that were so conservative, we could have almost clocked them with an alarm clock rather than a stop watch. Recording a 12.79, 13.03, 12.97 then a 12.20 from the 400m to the 200m made it mathematically impossible for those chasing.
Despite the steadier of 58.5kgs top weight for our mare, and spotting all the males in the field weight, Nash had the luxury of easing down over the final 25m to give our mare a soft time through the line. She was so strong, that it took a lot of effort for Nash to pull her up past the post, which is a lovely sign for a mare bred to get out in trip.
A genuine Saturday class mare, this mid-week event was spotted in the racing calendar by
Dynamic Syndications and our mare was targeted at the 1550m trip in Benchmark 72 grade.
Despite the jump in weight, she was stepping back from a Saturday Randwick Bm 78 event over 1400m where she was runner-up when she was caught in the final stride. Here she was back down to a mid-week 72 grade, and importantly up 150m in trip, and she was ideally placed.
Co-trainer David Eustace saw her at the Warwick Farm stables after her previous race and thought she had lightened off a little, so he sent her up to their Bob’s Farm property for a few days to roll along the beach, so to freshen her up between runs and the result was this terrific victory.
There were some very excited and grateful co-owners on hand to welcome back to the winner’s circle NARRATED and Nash.
Congratulations to our terrific team of loyal Dynamic Syndications owners that race NARRATED: Dynamic Syndications Racing, Arrowfield Pastoral Pty Ltd, Mr D Garde, Mr C A Reid, Mr P Woodworth, Fitch Racing, Mr A D Vella, Drumroll, Mr A C Sinclair, Mr T C Spink, Mr D A Simpson, Mr A Krezo, Mr P S Chiu, Mr J Speak, Mrs S M Delimitros, Mr G A Buchanan, Mr J Anderson, Dynamic no. 107 Synd.
It was noted that
Nash was wearing a black armband today in acknowledgement and respect to the recent passing of
co-owner Fitch Racing Syndicate’s – Mr Evan Fitch.
This is a family syndicate, and one of Evan’s final requests to his son Ben, was to take Evan’s wife Noni (Ben’s mum) from Queensland to Sydney to watch
NARRATED compete in this event.
In an emotional time, NARRATED and Nash did their part as Evan smiled down from above.
Sky Channel’s Richard Haynes said as the field pulled up:
“A Dynamic Win in the last race of the day here, and number one Narrated gets the job done - she takes care of business.
“Ciaron Maher and David Eustace the Sydney stable, here with Johann, a winner in the last race of the day and Nash Rawiller, Nash at his best there, he’s rated her beautifully and asked for a bit of an effort the last furlong, but she was well and truly home. That was her fourth go at Canterbury today, she had come here before for three second placings but that is an emphatic One in the win column this afternoon.”
Sky Channel’s Brad Gray then said: “When they are sent around even money, that’s how you like to see them win. That race was pretty much over after they went 400m and Nash got complete control, and they found their spots really early on in the race and looking at the splits throughout, I did see a 12.79 and a 13.03 in the middle stages. When you give a horse of her quality that ease of a lead, she was always going to kick and that’s exactly what she did. It looked NARRATED ‘s race on paper and the way she was ridden never a moment of doubt.”
Post-Race as the horses were returning to scale,
Adam Watt from Dynamic Syndications was interviewed by Sky Channel’s Richard Haynes who commented:
RH: “Adam Watt joining us from Dynamic Syndications. Always nice to win a race anywhere and the last race at Canterbury on a Wednesday that will do nicely for these owners for sure.”
AW: “It certainly will, she’s been knocking on the door this mare, and if ever a horse deserved to win a city race it was her. I think her record is five (5) seconds in town so she deserved that win and she is a very valuable mare for them all, and gee, that was Nash at his best wasn’t it? He just absolutely dictated to them, slowed them down the side, and off and gone, and it was a beautiful ride.”
RH: “We see in Sydney racing these kind of horses, who knows what there might be? a Saturday race win, they can bank some nice money if they get up and going like her.”
AW: “Yes definitely. I think she showed last start she is definitely Saturday class but for us, it was about trying to build a resume and get that all important city win on the board. We have been able to do that now and we can comfortably go back to Saturday grade and I wouldn’t be surprised in time, she is continuing to improve, and her mother was actually at her best as a 6yo overseas, she was a champion stayer, I wouldn’t be surprised if she could measure up to something black type in time.”
RH: “How’s the Team gone this season? Dynamic Syndications with a couple of months to go in the season are you happy with the way the year has gone?”
AW: “Yeah, I would have loved to have converted a few more of those seconds into wins. It feels like we’ve had enough seconds to make a minute there at one stage! But the season’s been terrific, and we have a lot of high class, city class horses around us at the moment, and it’s wonderful being involved with a stable like Ciaron Maher’s as well. They are doing a terrific job with our horses, and we are very thankful.”
RH: “Adam Watt and Dean Watt and the whole team, the ownership group of this mare who wins the last race, and Nash is there with Chantelle.”
Nash Rawiller was interviewed post-race by Chantelle Buckley and stated:
CB: “Well done, you were able to control and I think that the ride won the race.”
NR: “Oh No, she’s a very push button type of mare, and like I said this morning, she has shown all the signs this preparation that she has come back a little bit better than last time, which is good because she’s been so honest right throughout her career, and today is her first city win and I am sure she can go on from it.”
CB: “You always felt like the winner?”
NR: “Yeah I did. It was very good. A few of the connections dad died during the week and husband Evan, so I have got the armband on for that, and so for what has been a sad week, at least it has had a nice ending to it.”
Richard Haynes then added in:
“Yes it was a sad with one of the connections passing away during the week of this mare, getting this mare home for family and friends, it was a tough week but a nice way to finish off the day here with a winner in the shape of NARRATED.
RH: “I suppose Chantelle when we talk about syndication companies Dean and the family, you talk about Dynamic Syndications, they have been around for a long while, and I think about the number of people they have brought into racing, it’s a lot over the time I would imagine.”
CB: “Yeah it would be a huge amount wouldn’t it. Yeah Dynamic Syndications do a great job at getting people in and you only have to buy a small share to be able to get your way into racing and you only need that one good horse and then you are hooked. I think this syndication group are great.”
Sky Channel’s Glenn Munsie then added: “Best of luck to the connections there with the passing away during the week, but NARRATED with that win there they’ll be able to make another ad - Dynamic Syndications, Dean Watt and say ‘Vinery Yearlings Benchmark 72 at Canterbury – Won It with NARRATED.”
What a wonderful racehorse NARRATED has proven to be to date for her co-owners.

This Metropolitan Win by NARRATED was the missing piece of the resume jigsaw and has
significantly enhanced her residual value, when the time eventually comes for her to become a broodmare.
