Dynamic Syndications contributed to Waller's wonderful day when our
Encosta De Lago / Brown Eyed Girl 3yo gelding
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND won in emphatic fashion at Kembla Grange the BCNA Australia Class 2 Hcp over 2000m.
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND
This win took
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND to
7 starts: 2 wins, 3 seconds & $61,480.
The significance of the win can not be underestimated.
Firstly,
BLOWING' YOUR MIND was the only 3yo in the field of 10 taking on the older horses under Handicap conditions.
Secondly, this was our horse's first attempt beyond 1580m.
Third, our horse was only a Class 1 horse taking on Class 2 company.
Fourth, the handicapper gave him the Top Weight of 58.5kgs which after acceptances meant that
BLOWING' YOUR MIND gave his the second top weight a massive 4.0 kgs and the other 8 runners a massive 4.5kgs. Several also took a claim and he gave a few of these older runners a huge 6.5kgs.
With 1.5 kgs equal to a length, that meant he was giving his older peers a 3 length advantage, lumping the grandstand and going up 420m to get the 2000m for the first time.
One Relaxed Dude ! BLOWIN' YOUR MIND pre-race
Weights and measures say he couldn't do it unless he was a horse with enormous class edge on his rivals and courage. Not only did he win but it was a win full of arrogance for his peers. It was a super effort and one that stamps the horse with a bright future.
Sent out a $2.40 favourite despite the mathematical equations against him,
BLOWING' YOUR MIND (BYM) made it a one act affair.
Superbly ridden by Chris O'Brien who is build up a solid strike rate with the Dynamic Syndications / Chris Waller team, instructions were to attempt to get cover as we were trying to get 2000m for the first time and we had so much weight. But most importantly, ensure he doesn't get cluttered up. Allow him to be forward and get galloping room and wait for as long as possible in the straight before the horse is asked for an effort.
The race turned out tactically very close to what we had anticipated and the result was an effortless win.
Upon jumping Chris O'Brien initially restrained BYM to take a sit hopefully in the one / one. However, unexpected early pace in the race saw a few runners kick up and as a result BYM was trapped 3 wide going into the first turn. Initially that was OK because we had cover but that soon disappeared and BYM was trapped out wide, in no man's land without cover. In a decisive move, Chris urged BYM forward and our horse skipped around to sit at the girth of the leader. At that moment another runner followed us and went to the front allowing BYM to sit one out 2 back with a horse to follow. That proved a winning move as BYM relaxed and was able to get into a rhythm, bowling along without pressure, nor being cluttered up.
As they approached the home turn the field bunched up but Chris O'Brien was in the box position ready to pounce.
Knowing we wanted to hold up as long as possible under the big weight before asking the horse to extend, Chris allowed BYM a little reign and the horse pulled his way forward to hit the front as they straightened.
With those chasing him under intense riding to attack our horse, Chris kept nursing BYM until the 250m before asking for an effort and our horse responded. With controlled balance, Chris kept our horse focused and the big 3yo appreciated the big roomy track and let down as straight as an arrow. Such was the dominance Chris only swung the persuader several times and then rode hands and heels the final 50m, coasting to the post.

Importantly our rider was full of praise for Blowing' Your Mind upon return to the winners circle. Advising the happy owners present that we had a nice horse was satisfying, especially when we knew we had to do that bit of work early and as a result, didn't get cover into a strong headwind down the back straight and side.
Chris advised that the horse was full of running and he hadn't got to the bottom of him, when he rode him out hands and heels. Importantly he was so strong on the line that, our rider was convinced further distances will suit.
Congratulations to our team that race BLOWING' YOUR MIND :

So, what's in a name?
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND is out of the mare Brown Eyed Girl. That was also the name of singer Van Morrison's #1 hit. That #1 hit came from the number #1 album called
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND. A perfect name for a potential top liner !
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND became
Dynamic Syndications 330th race win since our first runner was a winner in October 2005 and was our
42nd win for this 2012/13 racing season. He was also part of
Chris Waller's magical day where Australia's Best Trainer recorded 7 winners overall.
