FIRST CROP and SECOND CROP SIRES PREMIERSHIPS Concluded for 2022-23 Season

The 2022-23 Racing Season has drawn to a close and with it came the conclusion of all the various Australian Sires Premierships.

Of particular interest are always the FIRST CROP SIRES and the SECOND CROP SIRES as it illuminates the trends going forward in the breeding barns.

These figures magnify facts. The marketing hype is dispelled, and it purely sits with the Sire himself whether he had the ability to uplift his broodmares and to produce results on the racetrack.

As the saying goes, “Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.”

Below is the Premiership Table for the FIRST CROP SIRES Premiership

As identified, 18 months ago by Dynamic Syndications, we heavily backed the ability of Coolmore Stud’s JUSTIFY (USA) (by Scat Daddy) being a success in Australia, and the gun sire lived up to our anticipation, easily claiming the Champion First Crop Sire Title ahead of ENCRYPTION (Lonhro).

JUSTIFY

JUSTIFY claimed the title by EARNINGS with $1,999,312 ahead of (2nd) ENCRYPTION (Lonhro) $1,230,575 and (3rd) HARRY ANGEL (Dark Angel) with $1,224,860.

There were five (5) FIRST CROP Sires to break through the $1m in earnings ceiling. JUSTIFY, ENCRYPTION, HARRY ANGEL, BRAVE SMASH & TRAPEZE ARTIST.

JUSTIFY was left stranded just $688 shy of the $2m barrier. Whilst JUSTIFY finished the season $768,737 ahead of his nearest rival.

JUSTIFY had 21 starters represent him, siring 8 individual winners of 11 race wins, including 3 Stakes Winners, 5 Stakes Wins at a Strike Rate of 38.1%.

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION was the standout by Earnings, Winners, Wins, Stakes Wins, it is noted that his 13 extra wins in front of runner-up HELLBENT, was helped by the data showing Russian Revolution had 31 additional runners.

HELLBENT was leading Second Crop Sire by Winners/Runners Strike Rate at 43.9%
