Dynamic Syndications had to be patient and waited until the start of Day 3 to become active at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, but it was certainly worth the wait, when we purchased a fantastic filly by Champion Racehorse and Champion Sire PIERRO ex ORONTES (by Redoute’s Choice) from the draft of Coolmore Stud for $90,000 + GST.

Inglis Classic Lot 547 - Pierro x Orontes filly from Dynamic Syndications on Vimeo.
Offered as Lot 547, this was the only horse we were interested in buying from the 2024 Classic Sale this year, and there were good reasons behind our desire to buy this filly.
PIERRO is a super sire. He was the Golden Slipper Winning Champion 2yo and World Champion 3yo.
Then at Stud he has been Champion First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Crop Sire.
PIERRO stood at a Service Fee of $110,000 in 2021 which was the year of Conception of this Filly who was foaled in 2022.
PIERRO is the leader of his generation.
He has seen 645 Starters; 440 Winners; 1172 Wins; 2296 Placings; 35 Stakes Winners; 29 Stakes Placed and over $84m in earnings.
First and foremost, she is a fabulous looking individual and very much in the description range of “Like Father – Like Daughter.”

Next, genetically, the best cross for the sire PIERRO is with REDOUTE’S CHOICE Mares.
REDOUTE'S CHOICE
This exact cross has produced 77 Runners, 50 Winners, 9 Stakes Winners (inc 3 Gr1 Winners) and 3 Stakes Placed and over $23.7million.
That is a phenomenal 65% Winners to Runners
The cross has produced a staggering 18% Stakes Winners to Winners
Also, an amazing 24% Stakes Horses to Winners and 15.6% Stakes Horses to Runners
This one cross is responsible for 50% of PIERRO’S Gr1 Winners and 25.7% of PIERRO’S Total Stakes Winners!
This is simply one of the most elite crosses in the Australian Stud Book.
Vitally important is the fact that this exact cross produced PIERRO’S best daughter - ARCADIA QUEEN.
Whilst two stakes placed daughters Gayatri and True Magic are both bred on this exact cross.
This cross, apart from the fantastic filly ARCADIA QUEEN, has also produced the awesome Gr1 Winning colt LEVENDI and Gr1 Winner REGAL POWER along with FURORE, DRAGON LEAP, ACTION, ARCADIA PRINCE, SACRAMENTO, KENTUCKY BREEZE and Stakes Placed: Gaytari, Aztec State and True Magic.

In addition to the filly being a terrific type with flawless conformation, along with the best genetics possible in a thoroughbred for racetrack success, there was another reason for us wanting to own this filly other than these stated major reasons.
We own this filly’s 2yo half-brother named AXIUS (by Justify).
AXIUS
We paid $200,000 for AXIUS as a yearling, and we hold AXIUS in such high regard, that we believe he could be our next Gr1 Winner.
AXIUS is a flying machine with Ciaron Maher Racing, and he is in full work and ready to trial. Importantly for AXIUS he is also bred on the best cross for his sire JUSTIFY being a Redoute’s Choice mare.
We are so excited about AXIUS that we made it our mission to buy his half-sister by PIERRO.
Our Veterinarian Dr. Tim Roberts rated the filly highly and gave us the green light to proceed with the filly passing with clean x-rays and a Grade 1 endoscopic evaluation.
We had valued Lot 547 to $130,000 + one bid ($140,000) based upon the facts of what we knew when the filly entered the sale ring.
The Inglis Classic Sale Average was $94,648 and the sale Median was $80,000. Whilst the Sire PIERRO was averaging $88,000 at the sale and the Median was higher $100,000 whilst the top price for a Pierro was a Colt for $150,000.
In our opinion this filly was well above average and bred on the right cross, but our advantage was the half-brother hadn’t been seen yet, so the public were not aware of our inside information. We have the opinion there is the potential for a significant commercial rise in the value of this pedigree page. Naturally we kept that information to ourselves.
Lot 547 was owned by clients of Coolmore Stud. The filly was for sale at a very realistic reserve that had been set on the filly of $70,000. Coolmore expected she would sell for more than that but wanted buyers to know she was on the market at a fair price and let market forces dictate the result.
Since we knew where the reserve had been set having been told by the Coolmore team, then when bidding in the ring, Adam Watt from Dynamic engineered his bidding to be on the odd number calls and placed his first bid at $50,000, so when the next bid of $60,000 was called, Adam went straight back with $70,000 and he knew the filly was on the market. A counter-bid of $80,000 was received and Adam bounded straight back at $90,000. That had us in the gun spot to frighten off bidders who didn’t want to pay six figures of $100,000 and if they did bid $100,000, we could be the $110,000 mark, meaning they would need $120,000. Then we had available if needed our $130,000 ceiling price bid to come. These are some of the psychological plays that happen in the salering.
Fortunately for Team Dynamic and our eventual new ownership team of this filly, our $90,000 bid was not countered, and the hammer fell our way.
We had secured the one we wanted. A half-sister to AXIUS for $90,000 + GST. This was $40,000 under our own self-imposed ceiling price of $130,000.
Nobody was happier than the team at Ciaron Maher Racing who will be putting the polish on this filly for us.
Prior to the sale we had contacted the current ownership in AXIUS to advise we were keen to buy the half-sister and most of the current team have taken up equity in this new filly. Therefore, there will only be less than a handful of shares that will make there way to market.
A Share price will be determined in the coming days and made available once the documents are lodged and approved through Racing NSW.
Lot 547 PIERRO x ORONTES Bay / Brown Filly became our eleventh yearling purchase in 2024 and our third filly.
Onwards and Upwards!
