Fascinating Watching 2018-19 Sires Premierships Unfold

With just 36 Days remaining in the 2018-19 Racing Season it’s fascinating to watch the Sires Premierships across all the different titles up for grabs.

As you can expect and as you would realise by the massive Service Fees certain sires now demand, “Cream rises to the top” and it’s the same in Sires Premierships as the Leading Sires battle it out to be Number 1.

The industry defining criteria to be crowned as Champion Sire is EARNINGS - The stallion whose progeny win the MOST PRIZEMONEY during the season is crowned the Winner.

However prizemoney can be misleading.

For example, deceased stallion Street Cry sits in third spot on the premiership because of one horse – WINX.

There are other categories that professional breeders and professional buyers dissect data from when making commercial decisions. These areas include:

Individual Winners; Total Wins; Stakes Winners and Stakes Wins.

Whilst Winners : Runners Percentages is another of vital importance.

Also young sires are divided into their foal crops to determine those winners.

Sires with one, two or three crops of racing age haven’t got the physical number of racing progeny to compete against the older sires.

So Leading First Season, Second Season and Third Season Sires tables are the future of our industry and great emphasis from both breeders and buyers are placed upon these results.

Over the next five weeks reputations are on the line, as even though it’s the depths of winter and the racing may not be grabbing headlines, the race results of progeny become vital and the race to the top becomes fascinating.
