Jakajaro impressed at The Curragh after Carolina Reaper saluted at Newmarket

Too Darn Hot sired another two (2) new winners on Saturday, 22 July, when his son Jakajaro recorded a smart win at The Curragh, Ireland, scoring by four-and-three quarter lengths.

This followed on from the explosive win by Carolina Reaper who had set the standard with a four and a half length victory at Newmarket earlier in the afternoon.

Jakajaro travelled strongly in the centre of the track, then challenged the long-time leader inside the final two furlongs and was dominant in scoring the four-and-three quarter length victory in the six furlong nursery race.

Jakajaro is out of the unraced mare Summer Flower (Oasis Dream), herself a half-sister to Khawlah who is the dam of Darley first season sire Masar.

Too Darn Hot earlier in the day had sired another new winner when his juvenile daughter Carolina Reaper became the sire’s fifth winner when she put in an impressive performance to win by four and a half lengths at Newmarket.

The two-year-old filly made use of her previous racecourse experience to take up the early running of the seven-furlong race, travelling strongly she quickened up well and eased clear of the field in the final furlong to post a comfortable win.

A step up in class is now be on the cards for this filly, as she aims towards the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket as her expected next target.

Carolina Reaper is out of the Stakes-winning mare Dark Promise (Shamardal). She has bred three other winners and is a half-sister to Gr1 Oaks winner Love Divine.

Too Darn Hot, who was a Champion two-year-old & champion three-year-old colt in Europe, is now the sire of six individual winners including: Son (who was a two and a quarter length winner at Newbury), Race The Wind, Alyanaabi and Fallen Angel.

TOO DARN HOT is off to a terrific start in Great Britain & Ireland as a First Crop Sire.

He has sired 22 runners to date for 6 Individual Winners (27% w/r).

That places the young gun sire in 4th position on that sire’s premiership.

Across Europe, leading the way is BLUE POINT (by Shamardal) with 19 winners / 2 Stakes Winners from 58 runners (33% w/r) just ahead of Soldiers Call who has 16 winners / 0 Stakes Winners from 52 runners (31% w/r).

We trusted in our systems that these sires have the genetics and successful racetrack abilities to have a successful career in Australia.

They were not necessarily the “in-demand” first crop sires in Australia at this year’s sales, which is more about fashion and marketing hype than genetics and business acumen.
