Congratulations to young trainer
WILL FREEDMAN on his
First WINNER as a racehorse TRAINER as our
Dynamic Syndications 4yo mare TIME TO DAZZLE scored an
impressive win the Gilgandra Newspaper Class 1 and Maiden Set Wights Plate 1600m at Narromine on Sunday.
TIME TO DAZZLE delivering Will Freedman his first winner as a trainer
TIME TO DAZZLE defeated PARADIA by 0.36 length, with a further 3.26 lengths back to Pepita in third place.
Dynamic Syndications and our wonderful team of loyal owners that races TIME TO DAZZLE are thrilled to have supplied Will his first winner.
Will had a grin like a Cheshire cat as
TIME TO DAZZLE held her opposition at bay to record her win for an excited young man who carries the surname of a racing family dynasty.
Dynamic Will Freedman enjoys that winning feeling !
TIME TO DAZZLE was purchased by Dynamic Syndications through the Inglis Online auction with the specific desire to supply Will a racehorse capable of supporting him in his new career and to give our owners an instant interest in a horse that was fit and racing well.
We paid just
$15,000 + GST ($16,500) for the mare and when we broadcast her availability to our owners, the 20 shares were snapped-up in
45 minutes.
TIME TO DAZZLE
She has now won back
$11,920 and should just keep improving for the young gun trainer.
TIME TO DAZZLE was offered by Ballymore Stables as a last start winning 3yo filly over 2000m on the 4th June and then had 3 weeks off before being sold.
Dynamic Syndications purchased her and put her straight on the truck to Scone.
TIME TO DAZZLE arrived on the same day as Will took over his new stables at Scone and was the first horse to arrive under his care.
The then 3yo filly had a soft barrier trial at Scone on the 19th July just to gauge to her fitness level which had fallen away noticeably.
She then went to the races on the 4th August at Scone over a mile and this was the
first runner saddled-up by Will in his new career.
Will was concerned she was under-done for this race but we had to get her going and she finished 5th of 12 with our go-to team member, jet pilot Christian Reith reporting post-race that she was in a winning position but ran out of gas with 100m to go. Christian said
"don’t go up in trip yet, stay at 1600m next start in 2-3 weeks and she should win."
Will and Christian were right.
Will and his partner Rachel Hunt (stable foreman who also rides Will’s horses each day at trackwork) set about to ensure that
TIME TO DAZZLE would be ready for her next assignment.
There was our preferred option of a Class 1 / Maiden 1600m Set Weights at Narromine with a back up option of a Benchmark 58 1600m at Cessnock on the Monday. With plenty of rain forecast in the area, it was a concern if the races at Narromine would go ahead or not? They did – just, after a track inspection that morning and the track was rated a Heavy 10. Just as well because Cessnock on the Monday was washed out.
Our only worry became the Heavy track with her fitness not being rock hard, the 1600m would feel like 1700m. However, under the weight scale, she was thrown into the race.
Punters thought so too, as she
opened in the betting at $14 on TAB Fixed and was smashed into starting a $4.00 second favourite, just behind the $3.80 favourite Fever Tree who ran 9th beaten 12.47 lengths.
This win by
TIME TO DAZZLE was as much about
Will Freedman’s horse husbandry skills and Rachel Hunt’s attention to detail and judgement, as it was about the
class of TIME TO DAZZLE.
The race was ugly for our mare the way it unfolded, and she should have run closer to last than first the way the race panned-out but class shone through.
Instructions to rider Grant Buckley were to be positive, (a trait that our mare had displayed in every race she had previously contested) and take a forward position in the run. Then as you swing into the straight, be the widest runner, don’t get anywhere near the fence!
Well we should have saved our breath.
TIME TO DAZZLE was given a torrid run in transit. Slow into stride, settling rearward, then trapped 3 deep, without cover throughout, worse than mid-field, working wide around the tight turns at Narromine, she was being asked to cover more ground than the explorers Bourke and Wills.
Then as she turned for home, all the other runners headed out to the centre of the track or wider but not
TIME TO DAZZLE. Inexplicably she was kept closer to the fence in the worse ground. Fortunately she had the class to carry-on and maintain a winning break despite the gallant run of the runner-up Paradia (Greg Ryan) who despite having a 2.0kg pull in the weights and having done no work in the run, and then angled out to the centre of the track,
TIME TO DAZZLE held it safely and as our mare was getting tired on the line.
TIME TO DAZZLE still posted a 0.36 length margin with a further 3.26 lengths back to third placed Pepita.
Job Done !
