Four 2yo Candidates For The Classics and Potential Cup Kings

On Tuesday 3 September, Adam Watt from Dynamic went out to visit Dynamic Team Member Shane Rose at Bimbadeen Park to catch up with him and discuss the development of several of our young, unraced, recently turned 2yo’s.

These specific horses were those bred to be our Middle-Distance / Derbies and Cups hopefuls, who are continuing through their early educational pre-training.

The key with these individuals we have found is after breaking-in, to keep educating them in short preparations.

Under best practice horse management and welfare, we prefer to give them 4 weeks educational training and fitness to enhance natural development and muscle culture growth. Then a 4 week spell to remove stress both physically and mentally, then repeat the cycle.

We were keen to inspect our four (4) youngster and identify how they have developed and strengthened throughout the winter.

Then most importantly, how forward they are in development and maturity as we enter spring.

These four youngsters will not be aimed at early 2yo racing because they are not bred that way. Early 2yo races is for the precocious, early maturing, sprinting types.

These will be our horses to race as 3yos and older horses, at distances where they will need trips at a minimum from 1600m out to 2400m depending upon the individual.

These four are the horses we deliberately purchased to aim at the Classics; the Blue Ribband races that racing enthusiasts dream of winning. The huge prizemoney races that if we hit our target can be life changing for our owners.

To own and race this style of horse requires some patience as the key, however the rewards with this style of horse can be enormous.

When owners consider that less than 15% of the equine population bred in Australia, based upon genetics, is incapable of racing out over these distances, then opportunities for success with a well conformed, genetically balanced individual is extremely high.

Especially when the competition consists of significantly smaller pool of horses compared to sprinting population.

These four individuals were deliberately held back by us from early syndication to allow our team to offer the sprinter / miler types to the market.

Now we like to finish off the calendar year with horses bred to race out over a trip.

Keen racing enthusiasts will note that there is a common thread amongst these colts.

First, and extremely important, each is by a Sire who was a Champion Racehorse and is also a Champion Sire.

Second, each sire is noted for producing the highest quality progeny, that have constant success over middle-distance to staying trips.

Third, and non-negotiable, the Broodmare Sire had to be a Champion.

Fourth, and also non-negotiable, each colt is bred on a highly successful A+++ genetic cross with a High Quality (Q) Factor.

Fifth, then three of the four have been entrusted into the care of Australia’s Number 1 Stable for winners over the past two seasons - Ciaron Maher Racing. Whilst we have entrusted a spectacular colt into the care of our valued team member and nearly private trainer for Dynamic Syndications - Jason Deamer.

We have concentrated on purchasing yearlings at the sales which represent “the best of the best” available in this sector of the market. That was so we can offer our Dynamic Owners every opportunity of racetrack success at the highest level.
