Gary Moore is hoping Hirad will give him his first Saturday Winner since relocating from HK
GARY MOORE
Forty-five years ago,
Gary Moore was a teenager still buzzing with
the thrill of riding in his first Melbourne Cup.
GARY MOORE with his father GEORGE MOORE
The son of champion jockey George, Moore was one half of the first father-son combination to go head-to-head in the famous race.
“I remember it well ” Moore said.
“I led for a while, it was a great thrill.”
An eight-time premiership-winning jockey in Hong Kong and France, Moore also claimed eight training titles in Macau.
HIRAD
He relocated to Rosehill at the start of the season and will chase his first Sydney win since then with
Hirad at Randwick on Saturday.
He had hoped to strike a blow in Melbourne during the spring but luck deserted him when top Hong Kong horse Dan Excel was ruled out of the
Cox Plate with a throat complaint while Not Listenin’tome struggled to recapture his best form.
Moore did saddle up two runners in support races at Flemington during Melbourne Cup week and has a long-range plan to make a bigger impact in 12 months.
“It’s been a beautiful week here. It’s great to have runners and hopefully next year we can come with a better line-up of horses,” he said.
GARY MOORE
Moore’s focus will shift to Randwick this weekend with
Dynamic Syndications former Victorian HIRAD.
HIRAD
The five-year-old was a sound sixth over 1250 metres at his first start for Moore and
the trainer expects improvement sparked by a distance rise to his pet trip.
“He’s going to strip a lot fitter for the race on Saturday and I think 1400 will be more of an opportune distance,” Moore said.
“He’s drawn a little wide in gate 12 but we’ll definitely press on and hopefully we can make the running.
“He worked very well on Tuesday morning over 800 metres and I’m delighted with the way he’s going.’’
On Tuesday morning at Rosehill he went his 800m on the Pro Ride clocking an impressive 51.05. A repeat of that on Saturday would see him very competitive.
HIRAD
Dynamic Syndications brought Hirad to Sydney after a successful stint in Melbourne with Mick Price.
He has run 19 occasions for 3 wins, 3 seconds, 3 thirds.
However, due to his consistency and benchmark rating, racing opportunities became more difficult to find in the Southern state compared to far more options in Sydney.
On Saturday,
Hirad will contest Race 8 the Declaration Of War @ Coolmore Hcp a 4yo + Benchmark 75 race.
He is Number 12 drawn barrier 12 with 56.0 kgs but will carry 54.0kgs after a claim for
apprentice Serg Lisnyy.
SERG LINSYY
Hirad does find a race that on speed maps looks to have plenty of pace in it but despite that,
Hirad is a
go forward horse who is not at his best if restrained early.
He will be asked to be sent forward by
Serg Lisnyy and settle in a prominent position in running.
With a little luck and a fair race tempo he will certainly be capable of letting his peers know he is in for a fight and is not without some hope in the strong affair.
The horse was transferred to
Gary Moore along with another of
Dynamic Syndications gallopers,
DREAM CHOICE who is also finding it frustrating to get in his right grade, due to lack of races in the calendar for his benchmark.
DREAM CHOICE
Both horses look a treat and are working very well under Gary’s care and we remain optimistic that race wins will follow in the near future.
