Dynamic Syndications are delighted that we have hit our own imposed Key Performance Indicator of a Winner A Week - Every Week over 12 months as we recorded our 52nd Race Win for the 2018-19 Racing Season.
The Richard and Michael Freedman trained HOTEL AMOUR (4yo g Americain x Paris Tryst) was able to produce his second win in a row to claim the Revolution Print Class 1 & Maiden Plate over 2140m at Goulburn on Monday.
HOTEL AMOUR wins R3 at Goulburn
This was his 4th run for the preparation having resumed on a Heavy 10 surface over 1400m when 4th of 10 at Nowra before stepping up to 1600m second up at Newcastle when 3rd of 10 by 0.79 len.
Last start we kept him at 1600m which he won when he was 3rd up, despite connections being aware that he was crying out for a much longer trip.
Then we found what looked to be a put in – take out race at Goulburn over the 2140m where the only question was not the weight of 59.0kgs but would the 2140m trip be far enough ?
HOTEL AMOUR is by Melbourne Cup Winner AMERICAIN whilst on his female side of the pedigree his grandmother is the legendary Melbourne Cup winner LET’S ELOPE so he’s bred to stick like chewing gum to a blanket.
Purchased to be a Cups Contender as an older horse, he has taken some time to mature into his frame and learn his racecraft which is still a work in progress however all you can do is win and he has been well placed so far and got the job done. However the further he goes, the better he will be suited.
This was HOTEL AMOUR’s 11th start: 2 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, 1 fourth, 1 fifth and earnings of $46,640.
Richard Freedman along with Michael and Will Freedman have done a superb job with this handsome horse and he keeps improving race by race.
Part of his natural progression will be to now aim at a race at Kembla Grange on August 3, a Benchmark 64 event over 2400m before deciding whether he stays at that 2400m trip or gets out over even further.
In race 3 at Goulburn, HOTEL AMOUR had 59.0kgs and drew wide jumping from barrier 9 in a field of 10.
Whilst our horse has the tactical speed to be on pace, the speed map showed 8 of the 10 runners went forward, so Richard Freedman gave boom apprentice Robbie Dolan a simple instruction being to make his mind up after 100m to either go forward or if it looked like they were pushing up underneath him, jag back and get one off the fence.
An 11 out of 10 effort by Robbie saw him judge the tempo perfectly and by the time they went 100m, he was across one off the fence at the tail of the field whilst it panned out as a charge of the light brigade up front, as they thundered into the first turn. After another furlong, Hotel Amour had switched off and was just hacking along at the tail of the field as they spread out over a dozen lengths heading into the back straight.
The field kept up the fast pace and Robbie just bided his time whilst the favourite with a 4.5kgs weight pull was one pair in front of him on the fence. As the field began to bunch up approaching the 600m, Robbie pushed out 3 deep in a cleverly judged ride which forced the favourite back into traffic as the field swung for home.
Waiting until they had balanced up, Robbie asked HOTEL AMOUR to extend under his 59.0kgs and the horse responded working his way up to eyeball the leaders at the 300m.
By the 200m he was a half-length in front and going like the winner having all those chasing him well off the bit.
