Two outstanding horsemen,
Trainer JASON DEAMER and Top Jockey NASH RAWILLER combined to produce a terrific result for
our top team of Dynamic Owners that race
CHOCOLATIER (Redoute’s Choice x La Praline) after our 5yo gelding was
far superior to his peers, scoring a win by 1.3 lengths over Chalmers with Assault’n’Bathory a further 1.3 lengths back in third spot.
CHOCOLATIER ($6.50) won the SKY RACING ACTIVE Handicap Bm70 over 1550m.
Second up from a spell and first career start on a heavy track,
CHOCOLATIER and NASH had the race in control from the time the gates crashed back.
The pre-race plan was to jump and roll to the front and hold the fence, however if another runner wanted to go crazy and scoot to the lead, then let it go and get cover. We would leave it to Nash to decide when to push the go button.
Connections were very confident that the horse would be hard to beat but our only concern was this is the first time
CHOCOLATIER was seeing rain affected ground.
We knew he was bred to get through it, but would he?
Well that was answered in dominant fashion.
JASON DEAMER is an integral part of the Dynamic Syndications Team and he is our “go too” Provincial trainer based at Newcastle.
Team Dynamic sent
CHOCOLATIER to Jason for this preparation, after our gelding was struggling to capture his old form and when showing signs of becoming sour towards the city sausage factory training facilities.
It was decided to send him to Newcastle and let Jason polish him up, to reinvigorate his passion for racing.
Well, Jason has certainly achieved that. First up from a spell over 1550m at Canterbury, he set the pace to just run out of gas to be claimed in the shadows of the post when running third beaten 1 length.
He stripped much fitter and more forward here into this second-up race and then when the barriers came out and we had come up with barrier 1, with his on pace racing style, we were thrilled.
With the pre-race plan identified,
Nash rode a beautiful race. He pushed up and held the fence heading into the first turn, when the rider of Assault’n’Bathory took a mind set to lead at all costs and that horse had to work overtime to cross us whilst Dream Circle from out wide, came over and sat at our girth in a fast tempo race.
Nash was able to get
CHOCOLATIER to settle straight away and he got into a rhythm down the back straight, as the field spread out.
As the field started the swing around the home turn, Nash could see the leader was starting to struggle as was Dream Circle to his outside.
On the point of the turn Nash pushed out from behind the leader and at the 300m was eyeballing the leader Assault’n’Bathory.
Then Nash pushed the go button and away they went, putting up a couple of lengths on the field. The leader dropped back to finish third 2.6 lengths behind us whilst the runner up, who had a easy run in transit, was able to work home but was never a threat.
Nash was full of praise for
CHOCOLATIER and commented that the horse was capable of going onto better grade races this preparation and he handled himself well by the way he was able to travel on the bridle, commenting he handled it very well.
Jason Deamer was also upbeat when we chatted because he still believes there is still a way to go to be at peak fitness as well as the fact that both Nash and Jason acknowledge that they believe he will be better the further he gets out in trip.
