American Pharoah had a red-letter day on Sunday with a
new Group 1 winner in France followed closely by a
new Group 2 winner in North America.
American Pharoah’s two graded stakes winners came at
seven furlongs on the dirt and 1¼ miles (2000m) on the turf, continuing to show the versatility of the US Triple Crown winner’s progeny.
Above the Curve (3f American Pharoah x Fabulous, by Galileo) took out the Group 1 Prix Saint Alary 2000m and then
American
Theorem (5h American Pharoah x Mighty Renee, by Maria’s Mon) landed the

GROUP 1 Winner ABOVE THE CURVE
Above The Curve Fifth G1 winner for American Pharoah
ABOVE THE CURVE
Above The Curve (3f American Pharoah x Fabulous, by Galileo) made good on the promise of talent she’d shown in her earlier starts when she
easily won the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary over 2000m at Longchamp on Sunday.
Ridden by Ryan Moore for Westerberg and the Coolmore partners, the filly was making her first start at Group 1 level and showed it was right where she belonged.
Above The Curve settled just behind the pacesetter and galloped comfortably in the 2000m event with Group 1 winner Wild Beauty keeping her company in the position. Moore let the filly’s reins out a notch just outside the final 400m before setting her down for the run when they were well down the stretch and
Above The Curve quickly lived up to her name.
The filly took over with a furlong left to run and she had the race well in hand at the line with a length on the Group 3 winning Place Du Carrousel in the end.
"She's a lovely filly who is still learning. A steady pace didn't really suit, and she was a bit idle in front, but she was always doing what she had to," Moore told the Racing Post.
"She's a huge girl and there's still a lot of potential and improvement to come."
Trained by Joseph O’Brien, the lightly raced

both the dirt and turf.
GROUP 2 Winner AMERICAN THEORUM
American Theorum has always shown above average ability and was
Group 1 placed at two but has had an interrupted career making it hard for him to fulfill his potential.
American Theorum
On Sunday he scored a tenacious nose win in the seven-furlong sprint, his third win from 11 starts.
Making his fifth start of the year the Group 1-placed runner was happy to take up a spot in midfield in the 1400m race, tracking the leaders. Taken deep around the turn, he ranged up alongside the leaders as they swept past the 400m marker before entering a duel with one of them as the others fell back.
American Theorem wasn’t to be denied his first Group stakes victory, putting a determined nose in front of his rival as the line with the rest of the field over three lengths back.
It was the sixth top two finish in 11 starts for American Theorem, who had finished second in the Group 1 American Pharoah Stakes as a 2-year-old.
He became the
29th stakes-winner for American Pharoah.
