INVASION DAY (IRE) 5yo Bay Gelding
(by FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND (GB) from VAN DE CAPPELLE (IRE)) is yet another
success story for our
Dynamic European Import purchases from the Tattersalls UK Horses-In-Training Sale.
Dynamic Syndications Owners and the
white-hot stables of the
Richard and Michael Freedman - FREEDMAN BROTHERS Racing, have combined yet again for another racetrack victory, our
27th Winner the
FREEDMAN BROTHERS Racing stables have trained for
Dynamic Syndications in the past
22 months.
INVASION DAY (IRE) who reportedly is named after the famous D-Day Invasion of WWII, was first-up from a spell and first-up for the stable, when he was sent out at the lucrative starting price of
$26, however nobody told our horse that he was those odds, and he blew his foe’s away on Remembrance Day (11/11) in winning a tough battle.
INVASION DAY (IRE) was victorious in Race 8 the Blacktown Workers Club Group, Benchmark 64 1300m on Wednesday afternoon.
This win takes his record to
21 Starts: 3 Wins, 4 Seconds, 2 Thirds and $82,769.
Asked to lump
60.0kgs top weight after claims,
INVASION DAY (IRE) received a
masterclass of a ride by our important team member and
“go-to” Jet Pilot, Christian Reith who guided
INVASION DAY (IRE) through intense traffic to storm home and
WIN by 0.32 length over Sea Echo $10 (J Pride / R Baylis) with Fastconi $4.8 Fav (C Waller / T Berry) beaten 1.14 lengths back in third spot in a slick 1:16.72.
There is a
definite pattern with these European Imports that has worked each time with those we brought to Australia. It takes these horses 1
2 months to acclimatise and adjust to our racing style.
INVASION DAY (IRE) is a similar protégé. Purchased for just
30,000 guineas, he arrived into Australia early December 2019, he had a few weeks off and then went into work, having 3 starts in April and May before being sent for a spell. In each start he raced below expectation of the punters but not connections.
Having won in England over 1261m and 1408m and showing a dislike to wet tracks in the UK,
INVASION DAY (IRE) started here first up over 1550m at Canterbury beaten 5 lengths (too far first up), then went straight to 2100m at Warwick Farm (too far second up) beaten 5 lengths and then, 2000m on a Heavy track (dislikes the ground) where he dropped out.
His body clock was still upside down, he was being asked to extend over too far, and he just hadn’t acclimatised. Sent for a spell where he thrived, putting on weight and adjusting to Australian conditions, Dynamic Syndications pulled off a masterstroke by sending him to Rosehill trainer Richard Freedman where we are having such great success and to a trainer who has such a terrific affinity with these European Imports for us.
Despite having a pedigree and conformation that insists the horse is looking for a trip between 1600m and 2000m here in Australia,
INVASION DAY (IRE) has a rare commodity for UK horses being
"natural speed" and importantly a
“turn of foot.”
Working in conjunction with
Adam Watt at Team Dynamic, together we mapped out a plan to have the horse ready to resume mid-November and start off over the shorter trips where we can use his natural speed and his class could shine through.
From the day Richard asked
INVASION DAY (IRE) to do his first piece of fast work in training, Richard reported that we had something above average in
INVASION DAY (IRE), but we still had to be cautious based on his exposed record in Australia.
The horse continued to please Richard and then he had a soft fitness trial on the 16th October at Rosehill with jockey Robyn Freeman-Key who has been doing most of the trackwork on him.
Then we trialled a second time on the 30th October over 1030m at Randwick with Nash Rawiller in the saddle. Unfortunately, the trial was put onto the synthetic track, but we needed the fitness foundation, so we went around under a hold because we didn’t want to push him too hard on that surface. Nash gave us a good report.
After his previous races, he was now a Benchmark 62 horse and the race at Hawkesbury looked an ideal kick-off point. We were confident that he would run a bold race with our doubts being because the second trial was soft, would we be running out of condition over the last 50m when carrying the highest weight in the race?
Adam booked Christian Reith to ride knowing that we always get an
awesome effort aboard Dynamic horses from the outstanding horseman.
Pre-race the speed map identified that there would be good early speed with 4 go forward horses engaged and we could see ourselves settling 3 or 4 pairs back, mid field and presenting at the top of the straight and finishing powerfully, but would the planets align first-up?
The answer was they did, thanks to a
tremendous ride by one of
Sydney’s most underrated horsemen.
When you watch the replay, you will see why we are in awe of Christian’s effort and how well he and
INVASION DAY (IRE) worked as a team.
It started with the magnificent way
RICHARD FREEDMAN presented the horse to the races.
INVASION DAY (IRE) was
well advanced in fitness and had a
real glow to his coat but with still room for improvement. Through the parade he was unfazed, walking around like an experienced campaigner.
RICHARD FREEDMAN was interviewed pre-race commenting that he liked the horse and had a good feeling about him but with exposed form that he had to be guarded about what may unfold. Richard didn’t need to worry as the horse performed brilliantly.
As the gates crashed back,
INVASION DAY (IRE) was quickly away for the first 30m before Christian took hold and eased out of the speed battle. After the field had gone past the
1000m mark Christian had
INVASION DAY (IRE) in the gun position, 3 pairs back, one off the fence, on the back of the favourite.
As the field swung out of the back straight at the
800m,
INVASION DAY (IRE) was travelling beautifully in a rhythm, about 6 lengths off the speed, in 7th spot watching two lines of 3 in front of him as the field began the run down the side of the track.
At the
500m Christian had a lap full of horse underneath so as the field approached the home turn, he urged
INVASION DAY (IRE) along and the horse responded quickly, picking up ground as the race started to pack up on the point of the turn.
As they straightened for the run home, Christian was still one off the fence on the back of the favourite but was in need of a way out in traffic and knowing he had to give all those in front of him a head start and a weight pull.
The favourite Fastconi then peeled out 3 deep and Christian responded by running up into the position the favourite had vacated but was still behind two runners who appeared full of petrol.
Finally, the gap opened at the 180m and spotting the leader and eventual runner up
3 lengths and 2.5 kgs weight pull, Christian and
INVASION DAY (IRE) knuckled down to chase the leaders.
At the
100m INVASION DAY (IRE) was still over a length behind but horse and rider were rattling home.
At the
50m INVASION DAY (IRE) was eyeballing Sea Echo and we were finishing the stronger and in the final five strides went past the runner-up to record a 0.32 length widening margin on the line.
