Inglis Easter Day 1 Action Sees ZOUSTAR Sizzle

Widden Stud’s exceptional stallion ZOUSTAR was the star of the show on Day 1 of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, by providing the top two lots and four of the top six lots on a day where blue chip fillies rose to the fore.

ZOUSTAR - Sire

The Day 1 top lot was a Zoustar x Prompt Response filly from Widden Stud, which sold for $2.2m, making her the most expensive yearling sold in the Southern Hemisphere this year so far.

Fascinating Day 1 trade on the First Season Sires is often a good indication as to how the market is perceiving the progeny of first crop sires after they have been broken-in from the early sales.

To this end the big winner here has been FARNAN. At the Magic Millions he had 29 lots sell for an average of $309,483.

On Day 1 at Easter he had 6 yearlings sell for an average of $427,500.

OLE KIRK - Sire

Ole Kirk went from 25 Sold for an average of $206,300 on the Gold Coast to 2 Selling on Day 1 for $295,000.

Whilst Wooton Bassett slipped slightly from 32 Sold for $465,625 at the Magic Millions to 11 sell on Day 1 Easter for an average of $321,364.

Of interest to Dynamic Syndications was the sale of Lot 118 - Written Tycoon x Ludicrous Mode Filly.

At last year’s Magic Millions, we purchased the First Foal from this mare by Dundeel a filly who is now named “SPACEBALLS” for $80,000.

Spaceballs is giving our team the “Warm and Fuzzies” in work and we have high hopes for our filly.

Last year her weanling half-sister by Written Tycoon was sold for $190,000, purchased by Ridgmont Stud.

On Day 1 at Easter, she was re-offered for sale and Sold for $450,000, providing a gross profit on the pinhook of $260,000.

This proving the commercial appeal of the family and comfort for our Dynamic Owners that have invested into SPACEBALLS.

Whilst another indicator of commercial appeal is the multiplier effect of of Stallion returns for breeders by Sire Service Fees.

On Day 1 at Easter there following sires had some nice returns for their breeders off the 2021 Year of conception Service Fees.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch was satisfied with how the day played out overall.

Day 1 ended with a gross of $63,975,000, average of $390,091 and median of $300,000.

“We had 41 horses make $500,000 or more, up on 12 months ago, with the median holding steady at $300,000 and a clearance rate that improved throughout the day, so there is plenty to be positive about,’’ Hutch said.

“As has been the case through the year, the market was again selective, but there was great variety amongst the buyers, including a number of new buyers and horses that vetted well generally sold well.

“We have been blessed to have a strong group of horses throughout the catalogue and it was great to see that recognised by the buying bench, the Prompt Response filly from Widden in particular.

“We look to tomorrow now and what a special day that promises to be with the Pierro daughter of Winx as well as so many other highlights.’’
