Richard and Will Freedman trained Dynamic Syndications galloper JUMEIRAH BEACH (5yo Bay Gelding by PRIDE OF DUBAI from VORMISTA) recorded a soft Win at Hawkesbury on Thursday afternoon when taking out Race 3, the Blakes Marine Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1500m.
On what was rated a Good 4 but feeling the effects of the heavy storm tumbling down, he recorded a Time of: 1:29.20 with a Last 600m: 33.08.
Ridden perfectly by in form jet pilot Tyler Schiller, JUMEIRAH BEACH (60.5kgs) ($4.40) looked a treat in the parade ring presenting here third-up from a spell after two good efforts previously.
He raced the way he looked, and the stable took no chances in the stormy conditions, placing two strappers with him whilst he was being walked around in the parade ring.
The result was never to be in doubt and JUMEIRAH BEACH recorded an eased down 1.95 lengths victory over Desi Emperor (60.5kgs) ($5.50) with Eyeque (60.0kgs) ($3.50 fav) 3.13 lengths in third.
Originally 8 acceptors for this event, there was one early scratching and then the longshot was scratched at the barriers reducing the field to 6 runners as the gates crashed back.
Having studied the race speed map, it was our tactical decision that we wanted to be positive and either lead or we preferred that the other designated leader Desi Emperor go forward and we roll across and stalk it early, believing we would prove too fit, too strong.
The way we read the map is how the race panned out. Desi Emperor went straight to the front and Tyler took his time to work across from the widest barrier to sit at the hindquarters of the leader.
As anticipated, there wasn’t any other runner showing interest to roll forward, so Tyler just put Jumeirah Beach into a rhythm, as the thunderstorm rolled across the track and the horses ran into the teeth of the rain as they rolled down the side of the course.
The field were peeling off steady sectionals, and this allowed Tyler to move up at the 700m to eyeball the leader as they ran to the home turn.
Swinging for home at the 600m the pace came into the race and JUMEIRAH BEACH balanced up for the run home on the outside of Desi Emperor.
Nothing else was making an impression and Tyler slipped a little rein to JUMEIRAH BEACH and he worked to the front and with 250m to run, the race was as good as over.
Tyler asked for an effort at the 150m and our Dynamic Duo quickly dropped the runner up whilst those following had no reply.
Over the final 100m Tyler just sat up and allowed JUMEIRAH BEACH to roll to the camera under his own steam posting an eased down two length margin.
Despite the ease of the win, JUMEIRAH BEACH still ran a slick 33.08 last 600m on the dampened track which made it impossible for the backmarkers who were chasing.
After the race Tyler Schiller was interviewed by Sky Channel’s Gavin Carmody:
Gavin said to Tyler: “Well you got a lovely sit and he hit the line full of running.”
Tyler responded: “Yeah, he jumped only ok, but he got into gear pretty quickly, and put himself up outside the lead. We went along at some pretty moderate sections in the middle stages, and I thought I would up the ante again from the 600m and we ran a really sharp last 600m. I thought he quickened well and thought he lengthened like a nice horse.”
Gavin then said: “He’s always been a handy, bread and butter horse hasn’t he, and only fairly lightly raced."
Tyler said: “Yeah, lightly raced and well placed. I was speaking with Will (Freedman) before the races and he said just go forward and see if you can out tough them, and he certainly did that.”
Gavin then asked of the track surface: “How is it out there now?”
Tyler said the at that point “The track feels fine, and obviously with a bit more moisture it will cut up a bit more.”
And that’s what happened, Race 4 was pushed back and then the track was downgraded to a Soft 7, then a Heavy 8.
However, our Job was Done!
This was the 4th Win by JUMEIRAH BEACH from 13 starts with 2 placings and took his prizemoney to $82,600.
Today he banked $20,550 for his track gallop.
