Champion Australian Racehorse and Champion Australian Sire and brilliant Broodmare Sire, but sadly the time has come that they are not making any more by LONHRO.
LONHRO
LONHRO was retired from active stud duties in 2022, having been restricted to serve a very small crop that will only produce approximately 20 live foals in 2023.
Whilst his previous 2021 covering season which produced foals in 2022 saw just 41 foals, of which 17 are bred and retained by Godolphin who stood him at stud. So, a maximum of 24 yearlings could become available. Once removing those that are poorly bred, poorly conformed, and/or lack size and scope, there can only be a handful to identify as candidates.
This is a simple equation. The facts are it will prove near impossible to buy a well-bred yearling by LONHRO anymore.
The last real opportunity was the yearling crop sold in 2023 that have now just turned 2yo’s in Australia.
The team at Dynamic Syndications were aware of this fact when we went looking for a well-bred filly by LONHRO at the 2023 yearling sales.
The horse we were searching for had to: (a) Have been bred on the proven A+++ cross of success for LONHRO, that is with daughters of DANEHILL & his Sons. There have been 61 Stakes Winners bred on this cross.
However if we look at DANEHILL Sons they must be top sires in their own right.
Next, they must have a commercially valuable pedigree page, to ensure they will be desirable breeding prospects into the future. This way we have an opportunity to maximise her residual value. Especially since LONHRO is such a highly successful broodmare sire.
Third, the horse we were searching for had to look like LONHRO. Simply it had to have thrown more to the sire on type than to the Dam.
The planets aligned when we identified Lot 63 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.
She was the Filly by LONHRO ex RADAR (by EXCEED AND EXCEL)

Tick - She is out of a daughter of Exceed And Excel (by Danehill), the best Sire of 2YO’s in the World.
Tick – LONHRO over EXCEED AND EXCEL mares has produced 7 Stakes Winners = A+++
Tick - She was a Half-Sister to Stakes Winner INTUITION
Tick - She has a quality Black-Type saturated female pedigree behind her.
Tick - She was a terrific moving filly with a lovely easy flowing action.
Tick – She was clean on X-rays and Endoscope.
Tick – She has broken-in and educated up brilliantly and we are thrilled with her progress under saddle.

Most importantly she was great value for money. We secured her for $110,000 + GST = $121,000. That was just two times the $60,000 + GST Service Fee.
