DYNAMIC / DEAMER / REITH Combination was to the fore again on Monday afternoon, as
our 3yo filly LOOSE BUTTONS scored a dominant win.
LOOSE BUTTONS is a beautifully bred 3YO chestnut Filly by
ZOUSTAR from SUNDAY ROSE (by Exceed and Excel) whom had been a
$625,000 yearling purchase by Jon Kelly (USA)/Tom Magnier (Coolmore), was being forced to be offered through the
Magic Millions Broodmare Sales in August 2020, due to the winding-up of the partnership because of the sudden ill-health of American partner Jon Kelly.
LOOSE BUTTONS had trialled on 4 occasions leading into her debut run for that ownership group, for 3 times being a runner-up and also a close third in another trial.
Then she went to the races on debut but was over the top and pulled up shinsore when beaten 5.7 lengths in what proved the hottest form race, when running into the top-quality horses PELTZER who defeated ANDERS.
Some homework prior to the sale, including a thorough vet examination by our contracted veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts and vital feedback from track riders and jockeys, had us narrow-in on the filly as a must have racing / breeding prospect.
LOOSE BUTTONS when we purchased her
Offered for unreserved sale,
Dynamic Syndications/Dean Watt Bloodstock (FBAA) were holding the bid at
$55,000 when the hammer fell. Delighted with our acquisition, there was immediate drama in the auditorium when Coolmore Stud believed they were holding the $55,000 call in the ring.
When they realised that the bid was not theirs, they came over to offer us a profit to sell them the filly. Naturally as we had made her a high-quality target and to get her for just $55,000, syndicating the filly amongst
our loyal Dynamic Syndications Owners was our main goal and in the blink of an eye, the filly was sold out.
She was a bargain buy now because when we purchased her, she had run once for a duck egg result and now from 4 runs for us, she has been placed 3rd and then a second and is now a winner, which will make her keenly sought as a breeding prospect in the future.
On Monday
LOOSE BUTTONS was facing the starter for the fourth time for her Dynamic owners and she won convincingly at Taree, as she ploughed through the Heavy 10 surface to break her Maiden when winning Race 3 - NATE'S PIZZERIA Maiden Plate 1400m where she ran the Time: 1:26.08 with her Last 600m: 0:37.68 .
LOOSE BUTTONS ($2.45 fav) (55.5kgs) defeated 2nd Endorphins ($4.20) (55.5kgs) by 0.98 length with 3rd place going to Essoess ($13) (59kgs) officially 2.28 lengths from the winner.
LOOSE BUTTONS doing it easy to score
Drawing the Outside Barrier as the gates crashed back,
LOOSE BUTTONS hesitated a fraction and missed the kick a neck, whilst several runners hit the ground running forcing
LOOSE BUTTONS to be wide mid-field after 100m.
Our game plan was to roll forward and take bad luck out of the equation and Christian Reith quickly summed things up and passing the 1200m Christian pushed Loose Buttons along and found himself 4 deep, two lengths off the leaders.
At the 1000m Christian had placed
LOOSE BUTTONS up on the speed but was trapped 3 deep so over the next 100m Christian kept pushing up and was able to work over to sit at the girth of the leader.
For the next 500m the field stayed in their positions, which allowed Loose Buttons to take a breather before the field started to pack up on the point of the home turn.
LOOSE BUTTONS had them all off the bit chasing her as Christian allowed our girl a little rein and she cruised to the front.
At the 200m point she had slipped two lengths and was safely holding her peers passing the 100m allowing Christian to ease down the last 40m to record a soft win considering the hard work she had done in the first part of the race.
The win was no surprise to connections, as our filly had been running well and working strongly at trackwork.
She had run very well at Newcastle at her most recent start, when leading but finding one a touch better on the day, when a gallant 2nd placing of 12 runners, missing by just 1 length over 1350m but she did start at the luxurious price of $21 and our owners who had backed her each-way had a big shout and cheer.
Up slightly in distance; down significantly in class from a provincial to a country race; and staying at a bottom weight of 55.5kgs under the set weights plate conditions; expertly trained by Jason Deamer and with our go-to rider Christian Reith in the saddle, we were confident of a bold showing and expected she could win.
We had her coming up as an odds-on quote in our race ratings; so to start at $2.45 having been backed in from $3.00 was an excellent return for her owners that supported her.
To watch her put her peers away in such a commanding fashion was extremely satisfying.
The fact she handles Heavy Tracks is an added bonus, and thoughts are now towards city class racing during the Winter months.
She is certainly better than a country grade filly and with a little more time to mature and develop, she will be so much better next time in.
However, in the short term it was important to win to secure her value as a broodmare when she retires and now this has been achieved, we will look to advance her form with another win over the coming weeks.
Congratulations to our terrific team of Co-Owners that race LOOSE BUTTONS with us: Dynamic Syndications Racing, Mr S B Troughton, Ms K Robertson, Mr A Cranes, Mrs A Taylor, Mr A J Pettigrew, Ms B M Cassidy, Mr G Downard, Mr J Yianni, Mr N A McIlfatrick, Mr B Modderno, Stolk Racing, Mrs H Rassos, Mr G Rassos, Miss K Robinson, Mr A Watt, Mr D W Watt
LOOSE BUTTONS Race Career Record now reads 5 Starts: 1-1-1 and has earned $25,925.
Loose Buttons - Winner 4.1.20 from Dynamic Syndications on Vimeo.
Being a
BOBS eligible filly, she earned
$11,200 for first place plus an additional
$5,625 BOBS Bonus on top. With more wins likely for this promising filly and the fact she has already banked
$25,925 for her new owners she is becoming a very nice long-term prospect.
