Dynamic Syndications flashy grey LORD PARAMOUNT trained by Australia’s Leading Stable CIARON MAHER RACING recorded his 4th Race Win from 16 starts when leading all the way at Sandown on Wednesday.
LORD PARAMOUNT won Race 6 the Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap, Bm64, 1200m.
Trained by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace and ridden by apprentice Ms Celine Gaudray (a3).
On a Good 3 track, he ran a time of 1:11.38. LORD PARAMOUNT 62.0kgs (cd 59.0kgs) ($16) defeated Squami (60.5kgs) ($12) by 0.75 Length with Legionnaire 63.0kgs (cd 60.0kgs) ($17) 1.25 lengths third.
LORD PARAMOUNT (4yo g. Frosted (USA) ex Antarctic Miss (NZ) by Ustinov) recorded his second metropolitan win, having previously won at Moonee Valley, as well as recording victories at Stony Creek and Wangaratta.
In addition, he has been placed at Sandown, and finished fourth at Canterbury and fourth at Warwick Farm.
LORD PARAMOUNT took his Career Summary to:
16 starts- 4 wins: 1 second: 2 thirds; 2 fourths & Prizemoney: $143,890
Good: 8:4-0-1 Soft: 6:0-0-0 Heavy: 2:0-1-1 Winning Distances: 1000m (2), 1170m, 1200m.
LORD PARAMOUNT is known as a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde character, and he really despises any give in the ground as can be seen from his statistics and we have learnt that he doesn't like racing clockwise so that is why he's back in Melbourne, .
Plus, we never really know which one will turn up on the day but with a 25% Winning Strike Rate, he is more than just a handy galloper.
If he gets his own way in a race, he’s extremely difficult to defeat, but if the pressure is on him, he can throw a tantrum and dig his toes in, and not want to compete. So, he has taken the very best of Australia’s Number 1 racing stable to polish him into a sparkling asset.
LORD PARAMOUNT two starts earlier put away a handy field at Wangaratta in this same grade over 1170m.
Then last start he went to Moonee Valley but got trapped 3 wide in the run and spat the bit out and didn’t want to play, dropping out and run 10th of 10 beaten 10 lengths.
All connections were scratching their heads over that performance, but horses are animals not cars, so we just had to put a line through that lacklustre effort.
We chose to take our time before heading back to the races and freshened him up with almost 6 weeks between runs and as a result, he was happy to be back at the sport and raced accordingly.
On his normal form and on a Good 3 surface, he was extremely well placed in a race like this, however at the back of our mind was last the start catastrophe so whilst confident he had the ability, it was just a matter of who would turn up on the day.
Incredibly the bookmakers were extremely generous, sending him to the barriers as a $16 chance in the field of 10 runners.
Having drawn soft in barrier 3, and being on a Good 3 deck, without a lot of obvious early tempo in the race, tactically it was likely to be a sit and steer job, under the allotted big weight of 62.0kgs.
So the stable pulled a masterstroke, engaging extremely promising and highly gifted young horsewoman - apprentice Ms Celine Gaudray who claims 3.0kgs to do the steering. Celine put in a pearler to guide LORD PARAMOUNT to victory when leading every step of the way.
As the gates crashed back, LORD PARAMOUNT jumped away cleanly and after 20 metres had forced his way to the front and after 100m had found the fence in a sedate pace.
Eventual third placed Legionnaire worked over to put some minor pressure on us, to sit at our girth whilst the runner up Squami landed on the fence stalking us, getting a lovely run with cover as the rest of the field sorted themselves out over a dozen lengths. At the 800m Legionnaire tried to serve it up to LORD PARAMOUNT and he started to tug for more rein, and Celine allowed him a little to work back to a length leader, and our horse settled again.
Being kept in a rhythm as they rounded the home turn and balanced for the run to the line, the runner-up and third placed horse came up to eyeball us passing the 300m.
But the soft time in front and the slower early and mid-race tempos allowed LORD PARAMOUNT to coast in the run saving vital energy.
As the field thundered past the 250m, the others were at their top, and Celine still hadn’t asked our boy for an effort.
When Celine pushed the go button the response was immediate and LORD PARAMOUNT broke their hearts by finding a length.
He was full of running and in no danger at the 100m and the final 75m was an armchair ride under hands and heels to the camera.
Celine had just ridden the perfect race on a front runner, controlling the horse and tempo and saving energy to the furlong, and our quirky LORD PARAMOUNT loved the kind hands of Celine and gave his all to win with ease.
Co-Trainer David Eustace was interviewed by Racing.com post-race with the commentator beginning by saying: “25% win race in the career of LORD PARAMOUNT with that victory, that was much more to your liking as to what we saw at the valley?”
David Eustace responded: “Yeah, I was saying to Adam (Watt – Dynamic Syndications) before, that he is a little bit enigmatic this horse, but his strike rate doesn’t suggest that, so we are probably being a bit harsh on him, but he is a bit of a character and it’s hard to know which horse will turn up. But he really enjoyed flying out in front, and the team has done a good job with him.
“He’s been up and down the highway a little bit, and he seems to have found his groove.
“He’s probably best at Cranbourne (stables), it’s busy enough for him without being too busy and Celine took the race by the scruff of the neck, she was keen to lead, and with the way the track is playing, she got it spot on.
“He can be a bit highly strung as well, he appreciated sandhills (Cranbourne stables) which is a happy medium.
“So it’s great to get another winner for Dynamic Syndications, because they are very passionate and have been really massive supporters and it was a little disappointing on (last) Saturday with I AM ME, so its great to get a winner from here, and she (I AM ME) will bounce back.”
Then Celine was interviewed by Racing.com when the interviewer said: “Celine Gaudrey is with us and very happy with the ride, and David summed him up as enigmatic but it looked like you got him to behave just as you liked.”
Celine answered: “Yeah, that’s one way to sum him up. We got a bit of pressure on the outside of us which he didn’t really appreciate, he sort of got going a little bit, but once I got him to relax he was really good, and when I gave him a few reminders he let down really, really well.”

LORD PARAMOUNT was a $100,000 yearling purchase from Erinvale at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sales, so this win is timely as the 2023 addition commences this Sunday and Team Dynamic are down at Oaklands sorting the ‘wheat from the chaff’ in an attempt to find another top-quality yearling or two to join our super stable of 16 yearlings we have already purchased in 2023.
LORD PARAMOUNT as a Yearling after we purchased him - Everybody loves a Grey !
This win by LORD PARAMOUNT recorded DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS 41st RACE WIN for the Current Racing Season, as we are just past the halfway point of the season.
It was also recorded our 811th Race Win overall.
This was the Eleventh (11th) Race win (26.8%) trained for us in seven (7) months of the current season by the CIARON MAHER Racing Team.
Importantly, nine (9) (82%) have been metropolitan winners, plus a winner at Newcastle and Stawell.
No doubt our owners are enjoying the tremendous racetrack success we are achieving with Ciaron and David and their expert team of loyal horsepeople they employ. Together they keep churning out the winners at a massive Winning Strike Rate of 19.8%.
That’s why they are the Leading Stable in Australia for producing Winners.
That’s also why 10 of our 16 Yearlings we have added to the stable so far this year are delivered into their stables to polish up into more sparkling gems for our owners.
Together we are Onwards and Upwards!
