On Saturday,
Dynamic 4yo Grey gelding LOVE TAP (Tapit) rounded out the
2021-22 Racing Season in
brilliant style for his
Dynamic Ownership Team. From overcoming
extreme difficulties in the early stages of the race and being
blocked for a run until the 100m, Love Tap hit the afterburners to claim victory in Race 8 at
Eagle Farm from the jaws of defeat.
LOVE TAP defeats LOOKS LIKE ELVIS (outside) & TOKORIKI LAD (centre)
Our Richard and William Freedman trained galloper LOVE TAP was part of a winning Dynamic Double of Saturday after our 3yo filly SELFIE TIME also trained by Richard and William Freedman, broke her maiden at Kembla as the $1.20 favourite.
The
Dynamic Duo of RICHARD and WILLIAM FREEDMAN have had a tremendous start to their co-training partnership. Since joining forces father and son team have trained
17 Winners from 112 runners for the season since joining forces mid-way through the season.
LOVE TAP was third up from a spell here at Eagle Farm and was sent up to Brisbane to find a
much-needed dry racing surface.
LOVE TAP had resumed in Melbourne on a soft 6 surface over 1400m without the blinkers on and was beaten 5.4 lengths by Looks Like Elvis.
Then second up with blinkers back on at Randwick, he found a Heavy 9 surface in the Winter Stakes a Listed race over 1400m. He was beaten 7.4 lengths in what appeared a below standard effort but was found post-race by the racecourse veterinarian to be suffering
heart arrhythmia. He was made to trial by order of the stewards after that issue and Richard and William sent him around over 1000m at Hawkesbury trial on a soft 6 for an easy effort to get his racing status reinstated.
Originally, we had planned to aim at the Winter Challenge 1500m Listed race at Rosehill, however further rain ensured Rosehill would be a heavy surface again, which we believe we are wasting our time upon. With dry weather in Brisbane, we knew there was an Open Company 1400m event.
This was
well short of his preferred distances, however we felt this was a better option to run on a good surface over a trip short of his distance range rather than running on shifting heavy ground which he doesn’t like, especially after heart arrhythmia.
What we did like was this was a necessary tick over fitness race, which would set him up nicely for two upcoming events in Brisbane. In two weeks time there is an Open Company 1600m which is far more suitable and then two weeks after that there is an 1800m Open Company race which appears ideal.
So,
we sent the grey flash to Brisbane on a 3 race target programme.
LOVE TAP was back to his winning form when storming home to win
Race 8, the Country Music 10 September Open Handicap over 1400m.
Richard and William Freedman sent
LOVE TAP north in brilliant order, third up and also off the recent trial, so he was approaching peak fitness leading into this event which has now topped him off for his upcoming assignments.
We had no hesitation booking
in form apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor and use his 1.5kg claim. Allotted 54.5kgs Kyle’s claim resulted in
LOVE TAP only having 53.0 kgs to carry.
We had the belief we would be very competitive on a Good 4 surface and was an excellent each way hope, but we were really wanting to see
LOVE TAP hitting the line over 1400m as our final foundation for upcoming races.
Tactically we were keen to see
LOVE TAP come out running, and lob into a forward position either leading or sitting at the girth of the leader, ensuring he had clear galloping room in the early stages, which didn’t happen last start and that race went pear-shaped.
In the pre-race parade, he was a standout looking type and was supported from $11 into $8.00.
Heading to the barriers - LOVE TAP is feeling well !
He was paraded in his pre-race earmuffs to keep him calm and went onto the track looking great. He was well behaved behind the machines, and loaded quietly, but as the gates crashed back, the race totally changed complexion.
LOVE TAP dwelt and was clearly a length last as the field hit the ground running in a fast early tempo race.
LOVE TAP slowly away
So, Kyle had to ride the race under his own tactics from here.
Kyle allowed
LOVE TAP to get in a rhythm without being bustled along. The
Dynamic Duo found themselves well back and racing tightly passing the 1000m mark,
LOVE TAP resented being restrained and got his head up and for the next 150m gave Kyle a torrid ride as Kyle asked him to come back under saddle instead of over-racing.
1200m
Finally, at the 850m he relaxed, and Kyle kept
LOVE TAP in an easy flow until rounding the home turn and balancing into the top of the straight.
800m
600m
Passing the 400m
LOVE TAP was 6 lengths off the leaders and had a wall of horses in front of him.
400m
Kyle steadied and angled out off the heels of the runner in front and
whilst there was a gap presenting, the runner to his inside wanted to
push out for it and the runner to the outside started to roll-in,
causing a squeeze as the passed the 300m.
At the 200m
LOVE TAP had established the tight run but our gelding was
“having a think” whether he wanted to attack the gap or not.
200m
At this point Invinciano was leading by 2 lengths on the fence with
Tokoriki Lad in the centre of the track in second spot and Looks Like
Elvis flying down the outside, whilst
LOVE TAP was still trying to push through a gap to the outside of General Dubai who was weakening, and
LOVE TAP was underneath Tokoriki Lad who was shifting in under pressure.
Over the next 100m Kyle took control of
LOVE TAP and
demanded he attack. Stride by stride he worked up to eyeball General
Dubai the horse he was chasing down whilst down the outside was Looks
Like Elvis in full flight and with full speed attacking the leader
Tokoriki Lad in the run to the winning post.
100m
LOVE TAP got in front of General Dubai to his inside
with 100m left and with the blinkers on, as soon as he passed that
runner, he was still over a length and a half behind the leader
Invinciano and a length behind Tokoriki Lad ¾ length behind Looks Like
Elvis.
50m
Now with clear running LOVE TAP
kicked in the after burner and he flew home in a sizzling display of
speed and stamina to drive at the line and put his head down right where
it countered to claim victory.
LOVE TAP wins
The margin was tight, but the win was dominant as LOVE TAP defeated LOOKS LIKE ELVIS by 0.10 length with TOKORIKI LAD finishing 3rd just another 0.1 length whilst Invinciano couldn’t continue and dropped back to finish 4th 2.2 lengths behind LOVE TAP.
LOVE TAP 17: 6-0-2 & $419,375
LOVE TAP was a $110,000 buy from the Coolmore Stud draft at the Magic Millions
LOVE TAP posted his 6th Race Victory plus 2 placings from his 17 starts in fine style and drove his prizemoney up to $419,375.
Kyle was absolutely
pumped-up when returning to the
winner’s circle and showing his delight to the crowd.
Post-race he was interviewed by
Bernadette Cooper who said:
“This horse LOVE TAP just looked beautiful in the yard today, it looked tricky in the run but once Kyle got into the straight he got the right run. Kyle is here we will have a quick word with Kyle. It’s always nice to ride a winner, but indeed for the Freedman’s”
Kyle responded:
“Yes – are I was a little bit worried when we jumped, he’s obviously a leader and he likes to bowl along at his own tempo but he missed the kick and he threw his head a bit and I was in all sorts (of trouble), he relaxed nicely after that still it was a tight run I took and I never thought I was going to get there and when he did – oh I didn’t know I had won till I came back, so I am pretty pumped about it.”
A very pleased Kyle Wilson-Taylor returns on LOVE TAP
A class galloper who had some issues with his near hock that has restricted his career, he is a
Group 3 Winner at 1800m in the Gloaming Stakes. He was third in the Magic Millions Qlty 1800m, 4th in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes 2000m, and 4th in the Gr2 Shannon Quality 1500m and was just 3.8 lengths away in the $7.5m Golden Eagle 1500m.
His previous victory was on 15 September 2021, a Bm78 so he had been another 8 starts without success before this win, but he had been taking on the best of the best in black-type or had been on rain affected ground.
Winners Circle
In this event, he got conditions to suit and showed the will to win that we had always known was under the hood.

LOVE TAP was Dynamic Syndications final runner for the 2012-22 racing season.
This win recorded our 44th Race Win for the season and recorded Dynamic Syndications 770th Overall Win.
To achieve 44 race wins this season, after the loss of so many race meetings due to rain flooding tracks and causing many other training issues, plus with many of our horses not suited to racing on wet ground which we have sadly seen since mid-February, we are delighted with the number of wins Dynamic Syndications horses have achieved for our owners.
Onwards and Upwards!
