Bigger, stronger and importantly injury free,
Team Dynamic were delighted with the comeback trial of stunning
3YO Gelding LOVE TAP (Tapit x Smokey’s Love) after he had an easy pipe-opener to blow out cobwebs in a trial at Rosehill on Tuesday. .
Trainer RICHARD FREEDMAN and jockey NASH RAWILLER were full of superlatives for
LOVE TAP as he successfully negotiated and ticked-off his first full hit-out before resuming.
He had successfully gone through a
jump-out two weeks earlier and his trackwork had been sharp however this was the first time he had been asked to extend before being allowed an easy time of it over the final 150m. He pulled up in
terrific order out of the trial
LOVE TAP made a big impression at his first preparation when facing the starter on
5 occasions for
4 wins including the
Gr3 Gloaming Stakes over 1800m before a gallant effort when
4th in the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes behind
Montefilia, Lion’s Roar and Bucharest.
He finished the preparation as the winner of
$187,000 and with a NSW Metro Benchmark 76 rating.
Sent for an intended short let-up before returning for the autumn carnival,
LOVE TAP suffered a
cruel blow when just two days before being ready to return to training, he was found to be
lame with a swollen left hock. Subsequent tests concluded the horse had developed an
infection in his hock and it was fingers crossed if he could ever return to racing in what was very much a
50 / 50 chance.
As luck would have it, the Prayers of his owners were answered as
LOVE TAP was allowed the extra time for the swelling to subside as much as possible in the area. Then a slow and steady build-up was undertaken to ensure the joint was not put under stress early. The result was the swelling continued to subside and the hock regained full-mobility.
Every cloud has a silver lining, and the good news here is that
LOVE TAP continued to strengthen and mature with the extended break away from the track without physical workloads.
He enjoyed the good weather and fresh pasture growth in the paddocks. This
extra bulk he gained has allowed
RICHARD FREEDMAN to polish what was an
equine Adonis into an
athletic machine.
It is our intention that
LOVE TAP will head to Brisbane in the coming days and he is expected to return to the races on
Saturday 15 May at Doomben in a $125,000 3YO Plate over 1350m.
He will then progress towards the
$250,000 FRED BEST CLASSIC - a 1400m Set Weights event for 3YO’s on the 29th May.
A decision at that stage will be made. If he can force his way into the
$1.5m Gr1 STRADBROKE Handicap at 1400m on the
12th June we would likely contest that race or alternatively, on the same programme is the
$200,000 3YO GUNSYND CLASSIC Set Weights at 1600m and we think it would be appropriate that a
Grey Gelding could win the race named after one of the
best Grey racehorses of the modern era.
That will see out his Winter campaign, where he will have a proposed short let-up before returning to Rosehill to be aimed toward
Australia’s second highest prizemoney event, the GOLDEN EAGLE which is restricted to 4yo horses and held in the Spring and set to be run on the
30th October 2021 over 1500m at Rosehill.
Whilst a Day can be a long time in the ownership and management of any equine star, the fact remains –
“The future belongs to those who plan for it.” Simply, if you don’t plan, you’ll never get there.
LOVE TAP will join Dynamic Stablemate HIGH SUPREMACY (3yo gelding Savabeel x Lady Chaparral) who is attempting a
Queensland Derby path.
In his past 3 starts, High Supremacy finished runner-up in the 1400m Canberra Guineas LR, then was a luckless 4th in the Gr3 Carbine Club Stakes at 1600m before last Saturday running a gallant runner-up over 2000m in the Gr3 Frank Packer Plate.
HIGH SUPREMACY is also set to race on the
15th May in the $250,000 Rough Habit Plate 2000m Gr3 which gives him his
consolidation race at 2000m before stepping up to the extra trip of
2400m in the Gr1 $600,000 Queensland Derby on the 29th May.
HIGH SUPREMACY has now had 7 races: 1-3-1 and $122,640 and is a NSW Benchmark 74 Rating.
We have excited Ownership Teams in both horses as they live their dreams of having horses capable of competing well in their chosen events and both horses are from the inform RICHARD FREEDMAN – FREEDMAN BROTHERS STABLES which is the stables that produced the 2021 Golden Slipper Winner.
Both horses will be ridden by NASH RAWILLER in their respective assignments.
We wish our Ownership Teams good fortune as LOVE TAP and HIGH SUPREMACY “Strive to Achieve.”
