Touching down late last week at Tullamarine before heading straight into 14 days quarantine, were
Dynamic Syndications latest 2 purchases from the UK being SIDEREAL and JACK DUGGAN.
It took
Team Dynamic 773 Lots to break through and purchase the first of two tried horses from the UK at the Tattersalls Horses-In-Training Sale for 2020, but thanks to a
good group of people around us, Due Diligence, Discipline and a lot of Patience, we were rewarded with an
exceptional first buy, being from Ireland’s Glebe House Stables of Trainer Jim Bolger.
We were able to secure an absolute excitement machine with the terrific racing name:
JACK DUGGAN in UK quarantine
JACK DUGGAN (USA) is this 2yo Australia’s next
“Wild Colonial Boy?”
JACK DUGGAN (USA) is a Winning 2YO by GREY Gelding by the promising young USA based Sire
JACK MILTON (USA) from the mare
UNBRIDLED TREASURE (by Unbridled Song).
From only
3 starts:
1-0-0
JACK DUGGAN won his Maiden on Debut by 1¾ lengths over 7.5 furlongs (1500m) on the 7th August at Tipperary.
TIMEFORM Ratings awarded the exciting youngster a high
87+ score for his awesome effort.
His trainer thought so much of
JACK DUGGAN that he threw him straight into Gr2 Company for his second career race start, this time he lined up at Leopardstown over 8 furlongs (1600m) on the 12th September. He raced without luck in this event and according to
TIMEFORM definitely had excuses.
Not to be deterred, trainer Jim Bolger backed him up for a third race start, again he was sent back to Gr2 company over 8 furlongs, this time at The Curragh on the 26th September but he was over the top and didn’t figure in the finish.
That’s his racetrack history to date.
Looking at him as an individual, he is still quite raw, and physically immature to look at which is perfect for us because he lands in Australia, and gets onto our pastures and gets our Aussie sun on his back, he will continue to grow and develop into a magnificent horse.
His Sire
JACK MILTON (USA) (By War Front ex Preserver, by Forty Niner) was a G1-Winning miler and top-class racehorse and
JACK DUGGAN is one of his progeny from the stallions second crop.
Unraced at 2, he was a Debut Winner and was a Group Stakes Winner 3, 4 & 5 = $853,828 USD
He entered Stud in 2016 and his oldest have just turned 3yo’s.
JACK DUGGAN’s Dam is UNBRIDLED TREASURE – she was Unraced.
She is the dam of 8 Foals to race, 7 Winners including Stakes placed winner of 3 races –
FUTURE COVENANT.
UNBRIDLED TREASURE is a half-sister to dual Gr1 Winner
SAOIRSE AU and to the Dam of Stakes Winner
MAKE A CHALLENGE and Stakes Placed
Highland Dress.
UNBRIDLED TREASURE descends from one of the best families in the Stud Book being closely related to
BALANCHINE - Champion 3yo of Europe as well as last season’s European star racehorse
THUNDER SNOW.
The horse has flown to Australia with
IRT will which cost
17,500 GBP or on the AUD exchange rate
$33,699.
Other costs we needed to budget for were GST on the Australian Dollar landed value of the horse, Insurance for Transit and for Mortality for 90 Days and once arrived in Australia, Road Transport and Agistment costs.
JACK DUGGAN (USA) is to be trained by Rosehill based trainer RICHARD FREEDMAN.

The horse commenced quarantine in England on 18 November and departed on 7 December arriving into Melbourne on the 8th December. He will remain in quarantine there and be released on the 22nd December where he will be transported to Bimbadeen Park just in time to spend an Aussie Christmas.
So, What’s in a Name? Every Champion has a Story:
Bred and raced by his trainer Jim Bolger, it’s poetic that
JACK DUGGAN (USA) has made his way to Australia.
Bolger is a unique figure in European racing as a major trainer who breeds most of his own horses.
Bolger said after winning on debut with his flash 2yo:
"What I was most asked when the horse won was,
'Who’s Jack Duggan?'"
Bolger explained that the name J
ACK DUGGAN was inspired by the character in the
“Wild Colonial Boy” a miscellaneous Irish folk song about an Irish outlaw who causes havoc as a Bushranger in Australia and is eventually shot.
His sire is Jack Milton, is a son of top sire War Front, who won the Grade 1 Maker's Mark Mile on turf at Keeneland in 2015. Standing at Crestwood Farm, his first two crops have received acclaim in his homeland, but of 52 runners, Jack Duggan was his first in Europe.
The dam, Unbridled Treasure, is a half-sister to Saiorse Abu, who was trained by Jim Bolger, and won the Gr1 Moyglare and finished third in the Gr1 Guineas for before being sold as a broodmare to Godolphin for 1,950,000gns (AUD $3.95m).
Bolger jokingly explained of
Jack Duggan,
"He’s the result of exasperation.”
"I bought the mare in America many moons ago and we didn’t have much luck with her. The mare was boarding in Kentucky and when it came to covering, I must have been busy when they phoned me. They said the mare would take a cover the next week and where did I want her to go. I’d said, 'Oh I don’t know, where do you think? So, they decided. I went along with it and we’re very happy with this result."
"I thought he might take a run, but he was probably a bit fitter than I thought he was - I thought he might run greener than he did, so there could be a nice bit of improvement in him."
"I haven’t really thought of a target, but he’ll probably go for a Group race. He will stay well; he’ll have no problem getting past a mile."
His jockey Rory Cleary reported the trainer
"He’s definitely a stakes horse.”
Dynamic Syndications also purchased SIDEREAL (GB), a fantastic 3yo Colt by World Champion Sire GALILEO (IRE) from the French Gr3 Winning, Gr2 placed mare STARLIT SANDS (GB) (by Oasis Dream) who has also arrived at Tullamarine and is doing 14 days quarantine in Victoria, before he also
heads into the stables of RICHARD FREEDMAN at Rosehill.
SIDEREAL in UK quarantine
We had to be patient for our main target of the sale which was catalogued as LOT 1164 and went through the sale late on Day 3. We rolled the dice, turning our back on several other opportunities, to keep our powder dry. We are big believers in fate, and whilst it took courage to reject some handy horses, we are glad we did, as our prime target is now Dynamic.
It was nerve tingling as this was our final lot of the HIT Sale to bid upon, and we were seriously concerned we didn’t have enough to buy him. However, when the gavel dropped on our bid of 100,000 Guineas (AUD $202,195) we became the proud owners of a potential superstar in Australia.
SIDEREAL (GB) is a 3yo Bay Colt by GALILEO (IRE) ex STARLIT SANDS (GB). He has an impressive record and is the ideal horse to bring to Australia and go through his grades before reaching black type grade.
Importantly he is still an entire, so imagine the fun we could have with this beautifully bred son of the World’s Best Sire from a Gr3 Winning, Gr2 Placed French Mare, should he earn Stakes Success here in Australia. He has a pedigree to rival the best horses around the globe.
Sidereal on Friday afternoon in quarantine in Victoria having arrived from the UK
His career record stands at 7 Starts: 1 Win, 2 Seconds, 2 Thirds, 1 Fourth. His form reads: 0-3-3-1-4-2-2
His most recent start was only on 15 October when runner-up of 15 runners at Chelmsford over 7 furlongs.
His previous start on 1st October he was also placed 2nd of 15 at Chelmsford over 8 furlongs.
A
240,000 Euro (AUD $400,000) yearling trained in England by Andrew Balding,
SIDEREAL is a winner at 1400 meters. He is a runner-up over 7 and 8 furlongs, and placed third at 7.9 and 8.1 furlongs, whilst he has also finished 4th at 8 furlongs.
In Australia he will make an ideal 1600m to 2000m racehorse with the pedigree to potentially stretch out to 2400m. He has an excellent
TIMEFORM Rating of 91 which equates to Metropolitan Saturday class at these distances in Australia.
He has an on pace running style and a preference for firm tracks which ideally suits Australian racing.
GALILEO needs no introduction.
"Galileo is truly a phenomenon, a ruler of the world himself and universally acknowledged as the best sire on the planet".
Champion 3yo in Europe; Winner of the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby & King George in very fast times.
GALILEO (IRE) (by Sadler’s Wells)(Bay 1998-Stud 2002). 6 wins-1 at 2, The Derby, Gr.1. Champion GB/Ire Sire 11 times. Sire of 2245 rnrs, 1538 wnrs, 332 SW, 99 Gr1 Winners inc: Frankel (York International S., Gr.1 – Champion Sire), Highland Reel, Cape Blanco, New Approach, Waldgeist, Igugu, Decorated Knight, Found, Australia, Rip Van Winkle, Capri, Soldier of Fortune, Ulysses, Magician, Mondialiste, Red Rocks, Adelaide, Nathaniel, Treasure Beach, Anthony Van Dyck, Intello, Ruler of the World, etc.
Our colt is from the outstanding racemare:
STARLIT SANDS (by Oasis Dream). 3 wins at 2, Chantilly Prix d'Arenberg, Gr.3, 2d Royal Ascot Queen Mary S., Gr.2, 3d Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche, Gr.2, 4th Goodwood King George S., Gr.3, Molecomb S., Gr.3. Three-quarter-sister to CHIGUN (Gr3), half-sister to SEA DANE (LR), Summer Night (dam of SONGERIE (Gr3), SOFT MORNING (LR), SOURIRE (LR), SOUVENANCE (LR). Dam of 6 named foals, all raced, 5 winners and 1 placed.
Bred to a Pedigree Rating Score of
A+ 924% with a Quality Rating of
10 out of 10, our colt is bred on the
GALILEO x OASIS DREAM Cross that’s produced 13 Stakes Winners.
This season GALILEO whose service fee is marked private, stood at a Fee of
Euro 300,000 (AUD $500,000).
Because he had not measured up to the 3yo Classics in Europe like the Guineas and Derby, he became surplus to needs and was on-sold to make room for the next crop.
However, for Australian racing he is will be the perfect addition. Lightly raced, with proven ability and in excellent form, by a World Champion Sire from a Group winning mare, with a sensational genetic cross and the highest possible Quality rating, to add to an excellent Timeform rating of 91, and being an entire, he remains a Stallion Prospect.
To buy a horse of this class, type and pedigree, as a lightly raced colt with proven racetrack ability, who is in full work and racing superbly, and to have such huge upside and to run for the massive prizemoney available here in Sydney,
SIDEREAL (GB) represents the ultimate racing dream.
Proudly, the Team at
DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS keep raising the bar with the quality that we can source for our clients to own and race.
