MAGNA GRECIA off to a FLYER as First Runner a WINNER

Magna Grecia the first crop shuttle stallion who stands at Coolmore, is a dual Group I winning son of Invincible Spirit.

He has made the perfect start to his stud career overnight in Europe when his first runner, a 2yo colt named MYCONIAN returned a winner at Saint-Cloud on Thursday.

The Amy Murphy trained colt Myconian (2c Magna Grecia x Sirici, by Choisir), won the 900m juvenile maiden.

It was no surprise to connections as he was sent out favourite and scored by an easy three-quarters of a length. He was headed during the run but fought back and came again to win drawing away.

Myconian was bought for €27,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and is the first winner for juvenile stakes-winner Sirici, a daughter of Choisir.

He becomes the first winner for Magna Grecia, a Group I winner at two and three, whose half-brother is European Horse of the Year St Mark’s Basilica.

Magna Grecia has had yearlings sell for up to $200,000 in Australia this year and was in Australia last spring along with his champion half-brother St Mark’s Basilica.

Dynamic Syndications were so impressed by the MAGNA GRECIA foals we saw and how they grew out and developed as a crop into yearlings, we believe there is every reason the sire should have success in Australia.

Especially when we consider his sire INVINCIBLE SPIRIT is the sire of Australia’s Leading Sire – I AM INVINCIBLE.

Magna Grecia was a far superior racehorse to Vinnie.

We purchased a FILLY by MAGNA GRECIA out of the Street Cry mare named BLUE MONEY.

We target the filly because we had purchased the elder half-sister named PHAROAHOCIOUS by American Pharoah for $100,000 from the Magic Millions and after she was broken-in and educated, we felt she was going to become a racetrack sensation.

She was the best to break-in from our yearling crop and had us in raptures in early training. We were adamant she was minimum Black Type standard.

We were devastated when she was killed in a paddock accident during a freak thunderstorm.

She was paired up in the paddock with another Dynamic filly FRANKIE’S ME DAD.

Lightning hit the ground close by and the girls took off straight into the post and rail fence. Frankie’s Me Dad only just survived the incident, but sadly PHAROAHOCIOUS was killed instantly.

When the opportunity came to buy her half-sister by MAGNA GRECIA knowing how good her elder sibling had been, and knowing this was a better genetic mating, as an A+++ we purchased the filly.
