MISS HUFFLEPUFF our 3yo filly (by
ENCOSTA DE LAGO x Miss Helga) put in a quality effort on Saturday when finishing just out of the placings in 4th position beaten 2.7 lengths in a time of 2:03.38 with a last 600m in 35.32.
Her sectionals were impressive.
Specific Choice won the following race over the same trip by 3 lengths in a time of 2:03.73 with a last 600m of 35.26.
With about 7 lengths to a second and with .41 being the overall time differential, that equates to about 2.9 lengths. Whilst it’s hard to compare times of races due to variable tempos, the statistical fact is
MISS HUFFLEPUFF would have run about 0.2 lengths (head) quicker on the day than
Specific Choice.
Whilst her sectionals were comparative with each split of
Specific Choice. She ran:
59.82 - 1000m
46.82 - 800m
35.18 - 600m
23.58 - 400m
11.98 - 200m
Her effort was excellent considering she was taking on the males and the first three placings went to the boys.
She is racing in superb form at the moment for a 3yo filly over a trip with a 4th at Randwick over 1800m (2.4 len) then a win at Kembla over 2000m followed by Saturday’s 4th again at Randwick (2.7 len).
We are now looking at a 3yo Bm 70 over 1900m race at Canterbury on 23 July or the following day a Bm 65 over 2100m at Gosford on the 24th July.
Her rider
Tim Clark upon returning to scale said he was delighted with her effort. She has turned into a genuine staying horse and after a spell her next preparation as a mature 4yo mare she will be a genuine Saturday class staying mare.
Chris Waller was equally impressed. He told the owners that next preparation she would be purely a Saturday class mare.
MISS HUFFLEPUFF is the
Full Sister to
Gr1 Winner and Champion Stayer in HK
LIBERATOR
The temptation to go to the paddock was resisted with the Canterbury race available where he believes she would be ideally placed and a very good chance.
