A MOMENTOUS Acquisition by Dynamic Syndications from Estate of Eduardo Cojuangco
SIGNIFICANT RULE 4yo Gelding
SIRE: MEDAGLIA D'ORO (USA)
DAM: CROWNED GLORY (by Danehill)
SIGNIFICANT RULE in the Spelling paddock at Bimbadeen Park 19 August
A massive opportunity presented itself to Dynamic Syndications for our Loyal Owners and Followers.
Due to the passing of the Owner of
Gooree Park Stud,
Eduardo Cojuangco on the 6th June, his Estate held a
complete dispersal sale of all their racehorses and breeding stock at the
Magic Millions National Sale between the 29th July and 4th August.
“It’s not always what you know, it’s often who you know!”
Dynamic Syndications earlier this year, were the first of just a handful of outside clients welcomed to spell and pre-train horses at the
5-Star private property near Mudgee.
Under the guidance of
industry experts Andrew Baddock and
Mack Griffiths, we sent a team of our horses there and they have been thriving.
ANDREW BADDOCK - Manager Gooree Park
Andrew and Mack have become an integral part of the Dynamic Team.
Before the market knew, we were
notified of the Estate were intending to sell all their horses.
Working closely with Andrew and Mack, the boys guided us through the historical facts and figures of each horse that was becoming available.
Together we created a select list that we were keen to acquire, to offer our Dynamic Syndications owners access to remarkable, highly prized bloodlines, in sound and right racehorses, all with displayed ability, that had been given the best start to life and the best education.
You need to be incisive when a horse has displayed undisputed ability, offering terrific upside, has superb conformation and has a genuine reason for sale comes onto the market.
When you have full history on a horse, from conception to foaling, raising and grazing, breaking-in and education, pre-training, training and corresponding full veterinary records, you gain confidence.

SIGNIFICANT RULE in training at Randwick
When you have all the facts and can then allow
“your eyes to be your judge and your pockets be your guide,” you have the upper hand.
Then that gets
topped off when you are already part of the team that is offering such a rare opportunity and you’re given the
ultimate “inside information” about what is happening, almost all the boxes are ticked.
Dr TIM ROBERTS doing a veterinary inspection
However, the
biggest tick of all, is then when
our contracted veterinarian, Dr Tim Roberts declares the horse
“sound of wind and limb” and concurs with all information received from other sources, then your due diligence is almost complete.
The
final piece of the puzzle is to establish the
correct market value and set a ceiling price.
When you determine that the horse has a market value in the tried horse sector of well
over $100,000 and we purchase that horse for what is considered by us as a substantial discount to our market appraisal, then we have scored.
This is what happened for
Dynamic Syndications on the
4th August at the
Magic Millions National Sale where
the Estate of the Late EDUARDO COJUANGCO sold their horses in a dispersal.

SIGNIFICANT RULE - HISTORY:
Bred by Eduardo Cojuangco
Raised and Grazed at the magnificent Gooree Park Stud – Mudgee
Broken-in, pre- trained and spelled at Gooree Park
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott
RACING OVERVIEW:
Broken-in and pre-trained as a 2yo out at Gooree Park, it was their conscious decision by the team not to send
SIGNIFICANT RULE into the stables early.
He was a typical Medaglia d’Oro that needed time to mature and also to wait until the distances increased which would suit better.
As a 2yo he came into pre-training on three occasions.
The third time he didn’t stop but went into
Randwick where
Gai and Adrian continued the foundation work.
Six weeks into his 3yo season, he trialled for the first time at Randwick over a totally unsuitable short course 742m so he only went around for the experience.
He trialled again 4 weeks later over 1000m at Gosford with this time
Tommy Berry in the saddle. He trialled nicely running
3rd by 1.76 lens. Tommy Berry gave him a good report.
He had ticked the boxes and shown he could run so was then sent out for a short 3 week break back to Gooree Park.
He came back into work in November and went through his first full preparation.
This time he had his first trial on the
17th February running second over the 742m ridden by
Tim Clark and then trialled again two weeks later over 1000m when Ridden by
Nash Rawiller.
9 days later Gai and Adrian sent him down to a 1200m event at
Goulburn. He drew wide coming out of barrier 9 of 11 and was rushed along to lead before being grabbed in the shadow of the post to be beaten a
half-head (0.16 length).
Gai believed he wanted to go up in trip, but a suitable race wasn’t programmed at 1400m. So instead of wasting a run at 1200m again, she decided to barrier trial him over 1200m at Randwick in an open trial against
Happy Clapper.
Nash reported he felt tired and flat, so he didn’t push him in the straight.
That afternoon he was found to have a
major temperature spike and subsequently was found to have a
nasty virus. He was treated with penicillin and was sent to the paddock for a
4-month spell.
During this time his owner passed away
two months into the spell and then was sold at the
4-month mark.
Because the spell had been punctuated by a sale preparation, we have chosen to give him another
3 weeks in the paddock to get over that and he will kick off again on the 1st September at
Bimbadeen Park and will head into
Randwick at the
end of September.

SHANE ROSE
The horse will have the balance of August spelling and then commence pre-training on 1st September.
What we learned from Gai and Adrian and our Randwick spies prior to the sale:
Dr Tim Roberts, Adrian Bott & Adam Watt
According to Gai and Adrian they loved this horse and believe he is city class.
They intended to buy him back
whatever it took. We wanted him as well, but we didn’t want to be bidding against the stable, so we
got our heads together.
The stable was prepared to go to between
$180,000 - $200,000 to buy him. To be fair we understood their reasoning but we didn’t value him quite that high.
We thought he was a
$120,000 up to $130,000 horse, knowing his ability, and what they are paying for these types of horses to sell up into Asia.
We agreed that we would be
on the phone with Adrian as the horse went into the salering and if the price went
over $130,000 we would drop out and act as the agent for the stable, to ensure they got the horse back.
We were delighted when our bid of
$75,000 wasn’t countered.
Adrian couldn’t believe it and was laughing on the other end of the phone when the hammer fell.
“
He’s terrific buying at that we will get out of him this preparation.” We agree.
The stable took him down the line for a confidence, education race on debut, believing he should win but typical of the Medaglia d’Oro progeny, he was still immature physically and needed another 6 months mentally.
On the day he raced extremely well and was very unlucky not to have won when finishing a half-head second fighting all the way.
After the race the stable decided to give him
another barrier trial as there was
not a suitable race at the right distance in the racing calendar for a 3yo to aim at.
He trialled in an open trial over 1250m behind
Happy Clapper. Nash Rawiller gave him an easy time in the straight. Coming out of that race the horse had a
raging temperature and was attended to that afternoon by the vets who took a blood tests and found he had a
major virus brewing. He was put on
penicillin and bute and was required to have
total box rest for a few days before being sent to the spelling paddock which happened.
Jockeys and track riders have given us glowing reports about SIGNIFICANT RULE and advised he felt terrific under saddle.
Catching the
virus was a
major advantage to us. This meant he went to the paddock for a
spell of 4 months with still his
easy races ahead of him. Then with the passing of Eduardo Cojuangco on 6 June, the horse was sold on 4 August at the 4-month mark of the spell.
So, to ensure we were not tempted to bring him back early, we transported the horse to
Bimbadeen Park to give him
another 3 weeks to
wind-down after a sales preparation and finish the balance of the spell.
We were able to get a full copy of all the veterinary reports and except for contracting the virus, there were no other issues noted.
What we learned from Gooree Park prior to the sale:
As our followers are aware, we have a team of horses spelling and pre-training at Gooree Park under the care of manager Andrew Baddock and pre-trainer Mack Griffiths and they have become an integral part of the Dynamic Syndications team.
We were advised
which of the Estate’s horses we
should be targeting to become members of
Team Dynamic based upon
racetrack ability and veterinary soundness. The Gooree Park team were
adamant that he was a horse to be recommended for our owners to enjoy racing with plenty of upside to hand a row of photos on the wall. Most importantly they advised which ones didn’t suit our needs.
Dynamic Syndications didn’t miss our targets and purchased each of their highly recommended horses.
At the sales we had our
own contracted veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts attend and represent us.
Tim examined each horse in detail and then,
as they passed physical inspection, Tim performed an endoscopic evaluation. Each of the horses we purchased had a
Grade 1 (clean) scope.
SIGNIFICANT RULE presented as he had been represented by
Andrew, Mack, Gai and Adrian and Tim gave him the tick of approval.
WATCH the Auction Sale unfold:
Lot 1811 - Significant Rule (Auction Ring) from Dynamic Syndications on Vimeo.
He represented fantastic value when knocked down to our bid at
$75,000 + GST = $82,500 based upon breeding, conformation and displayed ability. He is lightly raced and has tremendous middle distance
(1600m – 2000m) upside.
As declared, we had
significantly more money in our pockets to buy him and believed we would need to pay well into six figures to secure him. Normally you simply can’t buy such high-quality racing prospects for these prices and this is a genuine and unique opportunity which we took advantage of our due diligence work for our Ownership Team that will race him.
He is now
fully mature. He has displayed genuine ability and with such wonderful prizemoney on offer he is
“sensational value.”
5% Shares are $5,150 inc GST which includes, float fees, agistment and pre-training and other costs out to 30 September and Full Insurance to 1 November.
It is envisaged that
SIGNIFICANT RULE will be ready to
race late November and then can have a lovely preparation over the summer months.
Purchased with distinct
1600m goals in mind, he will be aimed to progress through the easy races to quickly win back his purchase price and gain confidence, fitness and experience, raising his Benchmark ratings slowly, before heading into more
competitive city class racing over the Christmas period.
“Remember – it’s not always what you know, it’s often who you know!”
SIGNIFICANT RULE offers our owners what may turn into the ultimate “inside information.”
