The $151,000 Melair Stakes LR (1700m) at Santa Anita on Saturday was
won by the tough, long striding, highly promising 3yo filly named FI FI PHAROAH (3f American Pharoah x My Fiona, by Ghostzapper).
FI FI PHAROAH winning the Melair S., LR 1700m
Trained by Walther Solis,
Fi Fi Pharoah made her debut in March and has made steady improvement since, with a
stakes placing 2nd in a LR and Win before this leading performance.
Fi Fi Pharoah found herself balanced at the rear in the run to the first turn, settling over 10 lengths off the speed, then finished with great gusto from the 600m, circling the field 4 and 5 deep for jockey Umberto Rispoli and went on to win by half a length with her ears pricked. The Win takes her overall record to two wins and two placings from five starts with prizemoney just shy of $180,000 USD.
Breeder Terry Lovingier raced her Dam, the talented stakes-winning mare
MY FIONA by Ghostzapper and bred his mare to
American Pharoah.
The trainer said
"I didn't think we would get beat this time. She just ran from the three-eighths (600m), she knows when she has to speed up. When she got in front, she started waiting for everybody. She's a classy filly. I knew the filly was coming in 100%."
Fi Fi Pharoah becomes the
17th Stakes-Winner for American Pharoah and she is one of
33 Stakes Horses by the impressive young sire, who returns to Australia this Spring to stand at
Coolmore Stud at $49,500.
Coolmore Boss Tom Magnier with AMERICAN PHAROAH
AMERICAN PHAROAH is a first crop sire in Australia with his oldest only 2yo’s.
There have been
80 named foals from his 2yo first crop.
14 have faced the starter with
66 still on the sidelines, being given the time to mature and waiting for the distances to get out between
1600m – 2400m which happens this coming Spring when the current crop turn
3yo’s.
Impressively from his
14 runners here, already there are
3 winners and 4 placegetters, so to have
7 of his 14 show up as 2yo’s over shorter trips is a
pleasant surprise.
Nobody has purchased an American Pharoah yearling expecting them to be at the races as 2yo’s.
The first winner of the converted US Triple Crown in 37 Years, AMERICAN PHAROAH progeny are those you buy when you want to win the
Blue Riband race, the Classics that come in their
3yo year, the races like the
Guineas, Derbies or Oaks, and to continue to develop into
high quality middle distance candidates as they get older into their 4yo, 5yo and 6yo seasons.
The Team at Dynamic Syndications have been well documented at believing
right now is the right time to be
buying the progeny of
AMERICAN PHAROAH.
A little out of sight out of mind theory, that the fashion parade buyers follow, means that
AMERICAN PHAROAH is great value right at the moment.
By next year’s yearling sales, when the majority of these
66 unraced 2yo’s have hit the track as 3yo’s and the quality winners are flowing, the progeny will again be in demand and you won’t get close to buying the best types at the yearling sales as they will simply be
too expensive.
We purchased 3 AMERICAN PHAROAH progeny this year.
ex BLUE MONEY
The yearling from the
Magic Millions ex BLUE MONEY is a cracker and broke-in like a Ferrari.
Colt ex LISSON GROVE
The yearling we purchased at the
INGLIS Melbourne Sale from the Stakes Winning mare LISSON GROVE had our breaker
SHANE ROSE very upbeat.
Whilst just a couple of weeks ago we purchased an
unraced 2YO Filly by the sire named AFRICAN DAISY at the Magic Millions National Sale. That decision was based upon the sensational pedigree, excellent genetic balance, great type and finally the huge recommendation of her trainer
ANNABEL NEASHAM who was all-in to get the filly back into her stable, after the Owner decided to sell off all their fillies and concentrate on only owning colts.
AFRICAN DAISY
Our TEAM at Dynamic, has done our due diligence, we are aware what a super opportunity AFRICAN DAISY is, and what a special colt we have out of LISSON GROVE.
AFRICAN DAISY is ready to return into training and is being offered firstly to existing owners at Dynamic Syndications. Shares are just
$3,865.
The sire simply can’t do anymore, the horses we have shown up already, and our
breaker/educator SHANE ROSE is extremely impressed with the
2 yearlings we purchased.
