Golden Slipper winner Pierro has made a brilliant start to the new season with a broad spectrum of exciting winners including highly promising three year-old Shadow Hero, who scored a resounding win in the Group 3 ATC Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill.
Raised and sold by Newgate Farm, the gelding made a one act affair of the 1800 metre staying test, bolting clear to win by more than three lengths for Josh Parr.

A 2yo stakes winner last season and fourth in the Group 1 BRC JJ Atkins Stakes, Shadow Hero has class and staying ability and those two assets will take him a long way this season.
He is now favourite for both the Group 1 VRC Victoria Derby and the Group 1 ATC Spring Champion Stakes next start.
"That surprised me, the ease of it but I thought he was the best horse in the race,” trainer Mark Newnham said.
"That’s what I hoped he was, that’s what we thought he was and today he’s confirmed it.
"His demeanour will take him a long way. He’s so relaxed everywhere.
"I think Josh (Parr) was a little worried when he rode him work on Tuesday, he was a bit too relaxed for him.
"I said ‘don’t worry, we haven’t put the blinkers on him yet’. He’s a bit like (sire) Pierro in that sense, you put the blinkers on and he turns into a super hero.”
Shadow Hero was purchased out of the Newgate Farm draft at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $260,000.
He has put together an impressive record of five starts for two wins and two placings with earnings in excess of $229,000.
He is the second foal and second winner out of Group 3 winner Sookie (by Casino Prince), a grand-daughter of Champion 2YO Filly Victory Vein.
He is bred on the awesome PIERRO x DANEHILL line cross that has produced 23 of the sire’s 29 Stakes Horses 13 Stakes Winners and 10 Stakes Placed including ARCADIA QUEEN , PIERATA, LEVENDI, etc = 79%
PIERRO stats have him poised to be one of the best stallions to stud in Australia of all time.

At the yearling sales Dynamic Syndications were fully aware of the success PIERRO was having and the quality racehorses that were coming through the system.
We were also aware of the incredibly strike rate PIERRO was achieving with DANEHILL line mares.
When we inspected the PIERRO colt from Gr1 Oaks Winning DANEHILL mare LARROCHA, the half-brother to six foals to race – All Winners including Gr2 Winner ROCHA, he ticked all the boxes and was passed sound and right on conformation and x-rays by our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts, we made the colt a prime target and we were delighted to purchase him.
He is built in the same mould of horses by Pierro that have been successful and it’s important to note that like them, this colt will be at his best as a 3yo when distances get out to 1600m and further.
The colt we purchased has all the traits to be aiming at the Classic Races in his 3yo year such as the Guineas, Derbies and as an older horse the Cups and a Plate.
This PIERRO x LARROCHA 2yo colt has broken-in superbly and we have high hopes for his future
