No Doubt About Ability of 3YO Filly Dignified Doubt for Maher and Eustace

Race 2 at Kyneton on Thursday saw an impressive resumption from a spell of the very impressive winner DIGNIFIED DOUBT (3yo filly) who was strong through the line in a Hygain Set Weights Maiden Plate over 1218m for her trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Heading to the post as a $2.10 favourite in a field of 9 runners after scratching, with stable rider John Allen up on top, Dignified Doubt had drawn barrier 8 of 9 runners but the awkward draw made no difference to the result.

DIGNIFIED DOUBT Winning at Kyenton

Jumping quickly to lead the first furlong, John Allen took hold and allowed another runner and eventual runner-up Hallowed Ground, to take control of the race, settling two lengths off the leader, one of the fence, facing the breeze.

There was no change to the order in the run until approaching the home turn where John Allen slipped a little rein to his mount and she moved up to eyeball the leader for a few strides before kicking away to post a length margin with 200m to run.

Having the runner-up beaten, John Allen gave the filly an easy run to the post to record a one length victory.

DIGNIFIED DOUBT as a yearling

A $225,000 yearling, DIGNIFIED DOUBT now has a race record of 2 starts: 1 Win, 1 Second and Earnings of $18,000 to date.

So, why is this win of DIGNIFIED DOUBT significant enough to report on it via this article?

At the 2022 Magic Millions Sales, Dynamic Syndications purchased the three-quarter brother to Dignified Doubt.

He was Lot 899 a Brilliant Bay Colt by EXCEED AND EXCEL (a Son of Danehill) from the Stakes Placed mare DAME MARGO FONTEYN (NZ) (by High Chaparral).

We paid $160,000 + GST to buy him, from the Segenhoe draft.

He has since broken-in like a Rolls-Royce and our breaker Shane Rose is very upbeat about his racing future.

Whilst at the Magic Millions Sales, we were comparing notes with our trainer Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, and discovered the boys were determined to buy him as well.

That was on the basis that they already had the first foal in the stable in Dignified Doubt whom they have a big opinion of he and think she is up to black-type levels.

They also have the second foal out of the mare, a 2yo colt named Ships Ahoy by Merchant Navy which has broken-in exceptionally well.

With this Exceed And Excel colt is the third foal out of this mare, they also believed he was the best type to date.

When we said we were also keen on the colt, they suggested we should work together and buy the colt for them to train, which was always going to be our desired result.

As the horse entered the salering, 30 secs later he was owned by Dynamic Syndications for $176,000 ($160,000 + GST) and heading to Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

There is no doubt that Ciaron and David have a special filly in DIGNIFIED DOUBT and the way she won, suggests many more wins are ahead of her.

Since then the sire EXCEED AND EXCEL has added nicely to his Stakes Winning Tally jumping by 5 stakes winners from 189 up to 194 as he rapidly closes in on the magical 200 Stakes Winners mark, plus he has an additional 129 Stakes Placegetters.

Our Colt is eligible for the $11.75m Magic Millions Race Day each year, along with eligibility payments made for BOBS and BOBS Extra. He is also eligible for the Golden Slipper / Golden Rose, Blue Diamond / Blue Sapphire.
