PIERRO 3yo ROCHA CLOCK in Promising Debut Win

On Saturday at Newcastle, 3yo Filly ROCHA CLOCK (PIERRO x ROCHA) faced the starter for the first time and won the Making Waves Fillies and Mares Maiden 1200m in a slick 1:10.03 coming home her last 600m in 33.69.

A nice win for a promising filly who had two trials leading into her debut for two trial wins.

What was impressive about this win was the way ROCHA CLOCK was on the back foot when the gates opened but then was driven forward out deep and tracked wide before pushing on to sit at the girth of the leader and then kicked off the front before understandably getting tired the concluding stages but still posted a dogmatic 0.41 length win.

She was never allowed to settle in the run and was niggled at the whole way and only a promising horse can do that on debut and still win. She will be a far better prospect when the trip gets longer and she can be allowed to relax.
