PIERRO off to a Flying Start for the 2019-20 Season

We are only four days into the new racing season and Coolmore's Outstanding Young Sire PIERRO has hit the ground running having produced seven (7) winners including a metropolitan double at Sandown on Sunday that featured undefeated three year-old PEIDRA, who will be aimed towards the Caulfield Guineas.

Prepared at Lindsay Park, Peidra was stepping up to a Benchmark 70 event for three year-olds over 1200 metres. She was held up for a run momentarily in the straight, but showed a good turn of foot for Luke Nolen and strode clear to win by two lengths.

"He did a really good job," said Ben Hayes.

"He was boxed in for a while, but once he was clear it was a really classy effort.

"We'll be looking at better races now for him and a traditional Guineas path as being by Pierro, the 1600 metres should be ideal."

A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Aquis Farm draft, PEIDRA is the third winner from stakes-placed Exceed and Excel mare Valoura, a half-sister to Group 2 winner Noire from the family of Group 2 winners Media and Timbourina.

Valoura had another Pierro colt that made $200,000 at Inglis Easter this year and she is back in foal to Pierro again.

PIERRO - At Stud

Pierro had a great season in 2018/2019 with over 100 winners that collected in excess of $9 million headed by eight (8) stakes-winners including Group 1 winners Pierata and Arcadia Queen, both horses being targeted towards The Everest.

Pierro stands at a fee of $88,000 at Coolmore this spring.

PIERRO made it 3 Champion Sires titles in a row at the conclusion of the 2018-19 Racing Season.

He had been Champion First Crop Sire, then Champion Second Crop Sire and now he’s Champion 3rd Crop Sire.

In addition, Pierro’s been a Top 10 Sire by Earnings on the General Sires Premiership the past 2 seasons which is a huge effort for a Young Sire.

Also he was in the Top 10 Sires by Stakes Winners with 8 for the Season.

He was equal second for Gr1 Winners for the season with 2 Gr1 Winners. Only I AM INVINCIBLE was ahead of him with 4 Gr1 Winners.

He was also eleventh (11th) for the number of Winners for the season with 107 from 211 runners = 50.7%.

That’s an amazingly successful season for a Third Crop Sire and Pierro with 3 Crop Championships on the mantelpiece, he looks set for another sensational year ahead.

Dynamic Syndications purchased a super colt by PIERRO from the Gr1 Winner LARROCHA by Danehill.

To be trained by Gai and Adrian he is to be offered for sale later this year.
