Plenty Of Friends See ALONEINABAA Break Maiden to Record 48th Dynamic WIN for Season

If you didn’t see it, then simply reading the result of yet another DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS Winner - producing our 48th Win for this season, our 590th Win overall and our 207th Individual Winner from 224 Individual Runners which continues our proudly earned "Industry Leading" Strike Rate of 92.4% Winners : Runners, it would suggest yet another successful day at the office for the Loyal Team of Owners.

However those who were supporting our horse with their hard earned at the prohibitive odds of $1.30 favourite had their hearts in their mouths throughout the event, as our 3yo gelding ALONEINABAA (by LONHRO x IMANANABAA) snatched victory from the jaws of defeats in literally the last stride over the 900m scamper at Newcastle on Saturday.

ALONEINABAA dives on the line to win

ALONEINABAA was facing the starter for his third career start.

He was first up off a spell with only the one barrier trial. As history now shows, he won the Toronto Workers Maiden Plate over 900m caring 59.0kgs for Training Brothers Richard and Michael FREEDMAN.

He earned $16,740 for the win plus a $5,000 BOBS BONUS and has taken his career record to:

3 Starts: 1-0-1 and $25,745.

So far so good for the all concerned. However it was the manner of the win which suggests there is a competitive future ahead for this horse.

From the time the barriers crashed back until the optical illusion of the tight photo finish, which appeared to the naked eye that he missed out in a deceptive bob of the heads from a tricky Newcastle track angle, supporters were never comfortable until the numbers flashed up on the semaphore board “ALONEINABAA First”

ALONEINABAA wins in a Photo Finish

Ridden by Keegan Latham, ALONEINABAA was backed-in from $1.45 to $1.30 on the tote and $1.20 on track on the strength of a dominating trial win by 5 lengths leading into the race.

However with our standard business philosophy of trialling twice before heading to the races, those plans went awry when the horse missed out on his second trial due to being ballotted out. He was due to trial again but the ATC pushed him across from the grass surface to the inferior pro-ride synthetic surface.

We won’t allow our horses to trial on the artificial ground due to the high risk of injury.

So we elected to go to the races without the second trial knowing we were "underdone" and still had good improvement to come.

We had accepted on the previous Thursday at Hawkesbury over 1000m and also this event at Newcastle over the 900m.

Fitness was always at the back of our minds, so the 900m was our preferred option and when the draw came out for the Hawkesbury 1000 and we drew wide with a lot of speed underneath us, plus an odds-on rated favourite drawn soft (and it won), we couldn’t see how we would get over and we would have to be trapped wide.

We elected to scratch from that event and take our chances over 900m at Newcastle. Should we draw wide there, it was no different than being wide at Hawkesbury but at least this was 100m shorter.

As luck would have it, we came up with barrier 3 at Newcastle from 15 acceptances and after 2 scratchings the field of 13 faced the starter.

Media support pre-race had him as the best bet around Australia on Saturday and after the event they were proved correct however during the run that was far from the case.

Over the 900m things can’t go wrong otherwise you are under too much of a disadvantage as you’re off the bit chasing.

As the gates clanged open ALONEINABAA hesitated and jumped slowly. He came out second last, a length behind a field of flying hooves. Traditionally you would have “ripped up your tickets” there and then.

Start (2nd last)

ALONEINABAA was pushed hard to catch up, using vital fuel to work his way into the field and not get shuffled back but was still worse than mid-field 3 deep but had cover, some 4 lengths off the leaders as the field thundered into the home turn.

400m

However there were 5 runners in a tight line either in front of him and runners to his outside, we had nowhere to go.

As the field balanced for the 400m run to the line, Keegan summed up his options and angled wide to get to the outside of the leading division, as the swoopers then started their attacks. Keegan had to push his way out, giving the horse to his outside being Fused Magic a shove out of the way and then having done that, had to re-balance and give chase.

200m

At the 200m he was “no hope” as the leader Swordsman (56.0kgs) was 4 lengths in front and going strongly whilst the eventual runner-up Stravacheva (57.0kgs – Robert Thompson) was a length behind the leader, chasing hard.

150m

100m

At the 100m the leader Swordsman was still full of running whilst we had to spot it 2.5 lengths and 3.0kgs in weight.

ALONEINABAA was trying hard but the short distance remaining, the weight disadvantage, the margin and now lack of match fitness was biting. These issues were all conspiring against him.

50m

25m

With 25m to run they were 4 across the track with ALONEINABAA fourth and still ¾ length away. He was out of petrol and just running on fumes.

Finishing line

Then with big strides, Keegan pushed ALONEINABAA forward to get his neck down and that lunge was the margin between defeat and victory.

You could hear on the TV coverage the cheers of the on course owners and punters as ALONEINABAA was flashed on the screen as the winner.

The margin was posted. ALONEINABAA (59.0kgs) won by a clear but the closest of margins being just 0.02 length over Stratacheva (57.0kgs) with 0.13 length to Swordsman (56.0kgs) in third and 0.53 length to Sparkling Rose (57.0kgs) in fourth. In older fashion terms, the margin was a nose by a head. These 4 broke away from the rest of the field with a 4.5 length break back to fifth spot.

ALONEINABAA Returns To The WINNER'S Stall

This was a win for courage, it was a win for class. It was a win for determination, a win for overcoming adversity and a win for a never give up attitude. It was a win for a good training effort and a win for an excellent effort of riding. Most importantly, it was a win for a Top Team of Loyal Owners.

ALONEINABAA was purchased by Dynamic Syndications from the Inglis Classic Sale in 2017.

Offered by Newgate Farm as Agent, our buying team considered he was immature but one of the best walking / moving colts at the sale. We were aware that he would need time as he was quite backward but the bone and muscle was there, as was the bio-mechanical movement to match a strong commercial pedigree and excellent genetic balance to his pedigree.

However he was backward looking type but with patience and education, he should make the grade.

Our opinion was echoed by Newgate Farm whom we have a wonderful working relationship with.

Henry Field and Bruce Slade at Newgate Farm advised he was there to be sold but they had a good opinion of the horse.

Dynamic Syndications purchased the colt for $75,000 and within 2 minutes of the hammer falling, the first to buy into the horse was Newgate Farm.

LONHRO needs no introduction as a champion sire.

IMANANABAA was a Winner of 5 races at 1200m – 1400m. She was a Gr1 Winner at 1200m and a stakes winner at 1200m and 1400m. She was also stakes placed at 1600m.

Pedigree and Conformation - we have no doubt our horse will be better suited as the distances increase slightly and he looks an ideal 1100m-1200m horse.

The way he finished off this 900m scamper with everything going against him as a $1.30 favourite, identifies he has the capacity to build on his resume.
