A large Team of our Dynamic Lady Owners where at Royal Randwick on Saturday to watch their 3yo Filly READY TO PROPHET do them proud when she stepped out of maiden company for the first time and faced the starter at only her third race start, with the added burden of taking on the best of the best by going straight into Group 2 company.

READY TO PROPHET & TOMMY BERRY head to the barriers pre-race
Their filly performed superbly to finish just 1.4 lengths from the winner.
Jumping straight to the lead, READY TO PROPHET flew in the early part of the race, running the field along in blistering sectionals.
As the field swung for home READY TO PROPHET was in front and gave a dash at the 300m to lead by 2 lengths, with a high quality field chasing her.
However the early hard work took its toll, as the filly began to gas out and that set up a situation that those who had taken the slipstream on her early in the run, had more to give over the final 150m.
Over the last 50m READY TO PROPHET began to tire and she finished in 4th spot to FIESTA who finished 0.3 lengths in front of Outback Barbie with Futooh just 0.4 lengths back in 3rd spot.
READY TO PROPHET finishes just 1.4 lengths from the winner
READY TO PROPHET finished just 1.1 lengths from the runner up and only 0.7 lengths from FUTOOH in 3rd position.
Under the set weights and penalties of the Gr2 Silver Shadow Stakes this handicapping format didn’t suit READY TO PROPHET which only stepping out of maiden company to take on a field saturated in the best fillies of their 2yo season. This highlights the brilliance of the run.
For example the winner FIESTA was a Benchmark 81 filly where READY TO PROPHET was only a Benchmark 66. That’s a 19 point difference which in handicapping equals 9.5kgs in weight.
However in this race under Set Weights and Penalties FIESTA only carried 56.0kgs where READY TO PROPHET carried 55.0kgs so in real terms, instead of getting a 9.5kgs pull in the weights, READY TO PROPHET only received 1.0kgs. That’s and 8.5kgs shortfall and with the rule of thumb being 1.5kgs = 1 length that was a 5.6 length difference READY TO PROPHET didn’t receive.
The margin was only 1.4 lengths between them so weights and measures suggests that the run of READY TO PROPHET excelled her own Benchmark Rating by 4.25 lengths better than her benchmark rating.
Relating to both the Second horse OUTBACK BARBIE and Third horse FUTOOH, both those fillies met READY TO PROPHET at level weights of 55.0kgs.
OUTBACK BARBIE was a Benchmark 78 which was 12 points / 6.0kgs / 4 lengths higher rating than READY TO PROPHET and only beat her home 1.1 lengths.
FUTOOH was also a Benchmark 78 so the same of 12 points / 6.0kgs 4 lengths higher rating than READY TO PROPHET yet she only finished 0.7 lengths in front of our filly.
Then a quick review of those she beat home includes the favourite OOHOOD who she beat by 0.3 lengths and that filly had been runner-up in the Golden Slipper and the Blue Diamond and they both carried the same weight of 55.0kgs.
Whilst READY TO PROPHET beat home MERYL by 1.3 lengths and MERYL was a Stakes Winner last preparation and rated a Benchmark 75 heading into the event which was 9 points / 4.5kgs / 3 lengths yet only carried 1.0kgs more than READY TO PROPHET.
So the run on facts , figures, weights and measures proved
READY TO PROPHET ran sensationally after doing all the hard work on pace.
Pre-race parade
Importantly for her lady owners READY TO PROPHET pulled up very well and our All Girls Crew will have some fun heading forward.
The fact that she grabbed 4th spot in a Gr2 and gets that recorded in her pedigree page for her future as a broodmare is also exciting as the result ensured the filly is worth a lot more now than what we paid for her as a yearling.
READY TO PROPHET is light on her feet !
Congrats to a Top Team of Ladies that race READY TO PROPHET:
