It didn’t take long for promising 3yo REBEL COUNTY to visit the Winner’s Circle.
Race 2 on Saturday at the NSW Provincial meeting scheduled for Kembla Grange but transferred to Goulburn due to the pandemic, was the JAN FENTON CELEBRANT 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400m) where
Dynamic Syndications runner
REBEL COUNTY, trained by
Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou at Rosehill, facing the starter for his second career start,
scored a terrific victory when ridden perfectly by our j
et pilot Christian Reith, on a Heavy 8 track in a Time: 1:27.05 with a Last 600m: 0:36.17.
REBEL COUNTY (59.0kgs) ($4.40) defeated favourite Left Reeling ($1.70) (57.0kgs) by 0.5 length, with Emerald Bay (58.5kgs) ($4.60) 2.15 lengths away in third spot.
REBEL COUNTY is a 3yo gelding
by STAR TURN from COUNTY CORK (by Fastnet Rock).
Jumping from barrier 1, we had asked Christian to be positive early, but the speed map showed that Gai and Adrian’s runner Emerald Bay would want to lead. So, we intended to push up for the first 100m of the race and make that horse work harder to cross us and then, when it eventually did, we should angle one off the fence into the running line, tracking the leader.
The race panned out perfectly as we read it should in the small field of 5 runners after scratchings.
REBEL COUNTY was eye-balling Emerald Bay for the first 100m before that runner pushed the button to go forward, forcing it to spend petrol early. As soon as it crossed,
REBEL COUNTY relaxed beautifully in second spot, 2-lengths off the leader passing the 1200m, whilst the favourite was tracking us in the run.
The field stayed in their positions for the next 600m. Then as they passed the 600m point and approaching the home turn,
REBEL COUNTY had been slipped a little rein by Christian to have our runner at the girth of the leader as they began to swing into the home straight.
Passing the 400m, Emerald Bay’s rider tried to push the go button for a second time and dash clear, as it headed out into the centre of the track in the Heavy 8 conditions. At this stage, it posted a 2-length advantage over us because Christian was waiting patiently, keeping
REBEL COUNTY in a rhythm on the boggy ground.
Passing the 250m mark, Christian asked
REBEL COUNTY to extend and our horse gave chase, stride by stride reeling-in the leader, as the favourite Left Reeling peeled off our back to give chase.
As they passed the 100m point,
REBEL COUNTY hit the front, as the leader yielded, and Left Reeling was a length behind us giving chase with a 2.0kgs pull in the weights to its advantage.
Despite the urgings of the rider on the runner-up, Christian was in cruise control on
REBEL COUNTY and allowed our galloper to relax with 50m to go.
REBEL COUNTY hit the line under his own steam as Christian was afforded a lounge chair ride for the final dozen strides to the post.
The runner-up was ridden out, and whilst it reduced the margin to a half-length,
REBEL COUNTY was always in control and never in danger of defeat.
Congratulations to our trainers GERALD RYAN and STERLING ALEXIOU on the terrific job they have done with
REBEL COUNTY, as our Dynamic galloper has now had
2 race starts: 1 win: 0 seconds: 1 third and earned $25,565 Prizemoney including a BOBS Bonus with the promise of significantly more to come.

The strength of this victory, against handy opposition, gives comfort to thinking that
REBEL COUNTY has better class wins in store.
This victory by
REBEL COUNTY saw him become
DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS 259th Individual Winner from 306 Individual Runners (84.6% Winners:Runners).
REBEL COUNTY recorded our 728th Race Win overall and recorded our 2nd Race Win for the new 2021/22 Racing Season.
A $75,000 Magic Millions purchase from Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud, as a yearling he was a bit gangly, raw, immature looking colt but he had one of the best actions we had seen with a huge overstep, whilst he also had the conformational structure to grow and develop into a nice and strong older type. This was perfect for us, as we knew this pedigree well, the pedigree was that of a middle-distance, older horse. The genetics rating said he would be more comfortable at 2000m than he ever would be at 1200m.
He was never going to be an early 2yo squib, but the older he got and the further he ran, the better he would be.
After all, REBEL COUNTY’S Dam COUNTY CORK is a half-sister to brilliant COX PLATE Winning 3yo SAVABEEL.
As soon as the gavel fell on our bid, trainer
GERALD RYAN who was sitting at a table behind us, tapped us on the shoulder and said,
“I really liked that colt, but didn’t have an order to buy him, otherwise I would have tried too. He’s a great buy.”
So, we replied to Gerald,
“thanks mate, if you liked him too, then you can train him.”
