Dynamic Syndications and the FREEDMAN BROTHERS Training Team (Richard, Michael and Will Freedman) have produced yet another of our
European purchases to win in Australia when
RECONDITE (IRE) a 4yo gelding by ACCLAMATION (GB) from AQUARIUS STAR (IRE) which we purchased at the
Tattersall’s Horses-In-Training Sale at Newmarket in England last October, was having just his second race start in Australia.
Recondite (IRE) in England after we purchased him before flying to Australia
RECONDITE (IRE) toughed out a gutsy win over an unsuitably short trip, and despite a genuine dislike for boggy ground, he ploughed through the mud of a Heavy 10 surface at Kembla Grange on Saturday, to record a
courageous win.
RECONDITE (IRE) winning the PFD Food Services Maiden Plate at Kembla 13/6/20
Ridden perfectly by our go to team member -
jet pilot Christian Reith, the class and quality prevailed when winning Race 1 on the programme, the PFD Food Services 1400m Maiden Plate.
Sent out a $3.20 favourite on the strength of a luckless debut run first-up over 1300m, the extra trip and the addition of blinkers proved crucial in claiming victory.
We had devised a race plan from the speed maps and form of our opposition, to push forward and take up a handier position. He had shown a lack of gate speed after missing the kick at his first run in Australia over 1300m which cost him track position, and that caused him to be locked-up in a zip tight pocket. The winner that day took off early, setting up a big lead. Despite spotting the leader almost 8 lengths at the turn, he picked up strongly to run second by 2.5 lengths.
We knew that day the 1300m could be a struggle, being well short of his best trip and still having plenty of improvement however with average racing luck, he should have won that day but that’s racing.
We also took advise from his jockey he would benefit from putting the blinkers on.
So here at Kembla we wanted to be assured that we took bad luck out of the equation, and decided to ride him a little upside down to his first start, but we were confident he could overcome the early work to fight out the finish.
As the gates clanged back,
RECONDITE (IRE) was away evenly with the field, but struggled to muster immediate pace from the wider draw.
After 150m the eventual runner-up Doctor Mancini had dashed to the front by a couple of lengths whilst Christian was trapped 4 deep, two lengths off the leader. Christian chose to use a little petrol and gave him a squeeze.
RECONDITE (IRE) responded to dash across and sit at the girth of the leader as the field thundered past the 1000m mark, before they started to swing out of the back straight.
From the 1000m, Keegan Latham aboard Doctor Mancini dropped anchor and Christian was able to get
RECONDITE (IRE) to settle into a rhythm, matching strides as the two leaders peeled off a couple of moderate splits, conserving energy before they started to wind up from the 600m. That tactic got those chasing off the bit.
Swinging for home, despite the rail being out 8 metres, Christian angled well away from the fence, to a couple away from the outside rail with Doctor Mancini matching him to his inside.
It's a war ! RECONDITE (IRE) fights off Doctor Mancini
The final 300m was a war of attrition, as the leaders matched motors and peeled off a slick 35.80 on the mud heap for the final 600m. It was a two-horse war, stride for stride but the superior mile plus genetics of our European Import
RECONDITE (IRE) kicked in.
Gotcha !
He was out of gas and running on fumes, being only second-up on the Heavy ground. Doctor Mancini was the fitter of the pair but a determination to win kicked-in and
RECONDITE (IRE) lifted the final 30 metres to push forward and record a 0.2 length win over Doctor Mancini, with Teronito a further 1.3 lengths further away in third spot.
The Dynamic Syndications brand salutes on the near shoulder
Christian Reith post-race reported the horse has nice upside and can put a few wins on the wall once the trip gets out over 1600m and further. He also reported he got through the conditions but didn’t like the heavy ground. The horse had a big blow after the race, so will strip fitter and will be a bit of fun.
What we are aware of with
RECONDITE (IRE) is that he will be so much better when he acclimatises correctly and matures into his frame. He certainly appears he will continue to develop and mature and he will be far better in 12 months’ time.
The FREEDMAN BROTHERS Training have been flying and the team won 4 races on Saturday including
OUTBACK DIVA at Rosehill whilst they walked away with 3 winners at Kembla
RECONDITE (IRE), DUCHESS and
SHADOW CHASER.
RECONDITE and CHRISTIAN REITH return to the winner's circle
RECONDITE (IRE) was our
second European Import Winner for our team in the past
3 days after Will Freedman led in
FIRST FOOTMAN (GER) who won for us over 1600m at Gosford on Thursday.
The Freedman boys also train imports MUSHAIREB (GB) who has won for us, along with another recent Import Winner, the very promising
