Racing in NSW has never been so profitable offering fantastic returns to owners and participants.
Increases in minimum prizemoney for Country TAB and Provincial race meetings that were announced in November last year took effect from Friday, 1 July 2016.
Then of course for the high majority of BOBS Eligible horses, another $5,000 is added to the taken home amount of the winner.
Minimum prizemoney for Provincial meetings has been increased by $5,000 or 23% to $27,000 per race with the winner pocketing $15,325 + $5,000 BOB Bonus (if eligible).
Country TAB meetings have also been increased by $5,000 or 33%, from $15,000 to $20,000 in prizemoney with the winner pocketing $11,360 + $5,000 BOB Bonus (if eligible).
These increases are part of a package of more than $21 million in prizemoney increases for Country TAB and Provincial races according to Racing NSW.
The prizemoney increases coincide with the second year of the phase-in of wagering parity. These increases would not have been possible without the
Baird Government’s reduction in State wagering taxes to bring us in line with Victoria over the next five years. Racing NSW specifically acknowledged Racing Minister Troy Grant for his leadership on this matter.
Racing in Country NSW will also benefit from the introduction of
NEW Country Showcase meetings.
Showcase meetings will offer a minimum of
$30,000 per race in prizemoney and will be staged at various courses throughout NSW.
This series starts in August with the Coffs Harbour Cup, Narromine Cup and Taree Cup meetings.
The Showcase meetings provide excellent opportunities to focus greater attention on some of NSW’s emerging country cup meetings.
Increases to minimum prizemoney and Country Showcase meetings come on top of the successful expansion of The Championships to include Country and Provincial racing along with the implementation of the Highway races at most metropolitan Saturday meetings.
Statistically, these prizemoney increases, along with previous minimum prizemoney increases, have seen an
overall increase in minimum Country TAB prizemoney of 110% since 2012.
Sydney Metropolitan Mid-week races are $40,000 events with $23,025 banked by the winners + a $10,000 BOBS Bonus for eligible horses.
Sydney Saturday races are $85,000 events with $48,750 to the winner + a $20,000 BOBS Bonus for eligible horses.
