A pair of Australian bred colts by
Redoute's Choice from the mare
National Colour (SAfr)) both won Group 1 events at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday carrying the famed colours of Shadwell Stud, owned by
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum.
First to salute was the Mike de Kock trained
2yo colt Mustaaqeem, who made it two wins in two starts when he powered away to win the
Group 1 SA Nursery over 1160 metres by four lengths.
The second highest priced yearling by Redoute's Choice for 2016, Mustaaqeem was a $1.75 million Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from Arrowfield Stud and is a full brother to Rafeef, who later on the same programme won the Group 1 Computaform Sprint over 1000 metres for the same owners and trainer.
Mustaaqeem became the 31st Group 1 Winner and the 146th Stakes Winner for his Champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
Mustaqeem is the super sire's eighth Group 1 2yo winner and Mustaqeem became his sire’s 36th 2yo stakes winners

Next it was the turn of
Rafeef who became the 32nd Group 1 Winner for Redoute’s Choice.
Already a Group 2 winner, Rafeef won this Group 1 event by more than a length taking it to 6 wins in 10 starts.
Rafeef was an $800,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Arrowfield Stud for Shadwell in 2014.
They are among three winners from the Joint South African Horse of the Year and Champion Sprinter National Colour (SAfr), who is at stud in Australia at Arrowfield.
Prior to the two Group 1 Winners in South Africa, across the ditch
in New Zealand, Redoute’s Choice added another 2yo Stakes Winner to his resume when the gifted
2yo colt Ardrossan won impressively the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes at Te Rapa – a worthy result and adding valuable black type performance to his impressive pedigree and also keeping his perfect record intact.
Ardrossan
The Australian bred son of
Redoute's Choice was far too good on Saturday for his rivals and is now coming to Australia to continue his racing career.
At that stage of the day, he became the
145th stakes-winner for Redoute's Choice. He is a three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Cheyenne Warrior and is the fifth winner from stakes-placed Iglesia mare Miss Argyle.
"He's still a colt and he's got a massive future," Cambridge trainer Stephen Marsh said. "He's going to be a lovely three-year-old and he'll head to Caulfield now to join Mick Price.
"I begged them to keep him here because I know he's got that x factor, but the right place for him is Australia. It's great to have been part of it all with him."
Ardrossan had been an impressive debut winner last month at Pukekohe Park where he beat the subsequent runaway winner So Far Sokool.
Ardrossan was a $150,000 purchase from the Arrowfield draft at Inglis Premier and runs for a syndicate of New Zealand breeders including Waikato Stud.
Before Saturday,
Redoute's Choice already had a same-track, same-day Group 1 double on his extraordinary resume when
Nadeem & Snitzel won the Blue Diamond and the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield on 25 February 2006.
However like a fine wine, the sensational sire keeps getting better but still, who would assume he could produce a Group 1 double at the same meeting by two full-brothers, bought from the same vendor & breeders, by the same owner and prepared by the same trainer?
Surely that's beyond even this bar-raising, mould-breaking, three-time King of Kings -Champion sire?
The brothers take Redoute's Choice's tally of Group 1 winners to 32, among a total of 146 lifetime stakes winners.
That’s why professional buyers keep going back to the source, time and time again. Whilst other new sires come in with big marketing budgets and plenty of hype, owners want to race high quality racehorses and to achieve that, you need the genetic mix of high quality sires to match black type saturated female families that when the sire crosses with the broodmare sire of the dam the propensity to throw a stakes winner is significantly increased.
