On Friday Dynamic Syndications put a story on our website about the Australian Sires Premierships after the first 6 weeks of the new racing season.
The
fascinating battle across all the various sires premierships is that of
the Big Boys fighting out the THIRD CROP SIRES List.
On Friday afternoon CAPITALIST led the way by both Winners and Earnings.
But as they say:
"A day is a long time in racing."
THIRD CROP SIRES are extremely important as this is the "money year."
The crop that identifies which stallion can go one to be a
leading Australian Sire of the future and which ones fall away to only being bread and butter sires.
This is the zone where
oldest are 4yo’s and their second crop 3yo’s make their mark and can deliver
exceptional rewards for owners who have the progeny of these leading third crop sires.
This season in particular, it’s a very competitive group of sires fighting it out.
After some terrific results over the weekend for a few sires, the landscape looks different today when compared back to Friday.
There were two (2) big improvers in this category. They were:
SHALAA
SHALAA has shot to the LEAD after his 4yo daughter
SHALSTAR won Race 1 at Randwick. He has jumped from
$723,622 up to
$787,248 to secure pole position. Also, he leads the way as the
Top Sire by Strike Rate with 26.3%.
ASTERN
Whilst the biggest mover and shaker was ASTERN, thanks to the wins by AFT CABIN at Caulfield and BRIGANTINE at Randwick.
ASTERN has
jumped two places from fourth up to
second place with his Earnings rising from
$496,573 up to
$762,823.
CAPITALIST had a quiet weekend and as a result slipped two places from First back down to Third place.
Whilst the very interesting play is that
between MAURICE (4th) and AMERICAN PHAROAH (5th).
MAURICE didn’t have any winners on the weekend but had three (3) new runners. So, its
intriguing that the hype about
MAURICE, the stats show that he and
AMERICAN PHAROAH have
BOTH had
37 Individual Runners and Both have 9 Individual Winners.
