SHALAA UNVEILS THIRD AUSTRALIAN STAKESWINNER

Shalaa’s 2YO daughter SEVEN VEILS earned automatic entry to the $5 million Golden Slipper Gr1 with a strong all-the-way victory in Saturday’s $300,000 ATC Reisling S. 1200m Gr2.

Only Snitzel’s daughter Dashing Legend – made ground late for second with Godolphin filly Ojai by Exceed And Excel in third.

The quality of Seven Veils’ performance was franked by her time: more than a half-second faster than star colt Sejardan ran in winning the Todman S. G2 thirty-five minutes after the Reisling.

SHALAA at Stud

That wasn’t the end of Shalaa’s contribution to the day’s feature 2YO racing.

His son Shalatin was a resolute third behind Sejardan & Boyfriend (a Snitzel colt) in the Todman, whilst his daughter All Sassed Up finished second on debut in the $200,000 Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic.

Breeders Chris Rogers & Paul Hughes retained and race Seven Veils who is trained by Mark Newnham.

Seven Veils is the third foal of the Redoute’s Choice mare Mesmereyeser who sadly died in January, less than three months after foaling a second Shalaa filly.

Mark Newnham said, "Seven Veils has always had above-average ability…She made a few mistakes on debut and it just cost her the win… I was buoyed by the fact the form out of the race has been quite strong and she has shown good natural improvement from her first-up run."

SHAQUERO

Shalaa, also the sire of Magic Millions 2YO Classic and dual Group 3 winner Shaquero, and this season’s Inglis Banner RL winner Semillion, has compiled 29 winners and almost $2 million prizemoney in Australia this season.

SEMILLION

Always well-received in Australian sale-rings, Shalaa’s third-crop yearlings have averaged $144,000 to date, with a top price of $500,000.

Again, this is an example of understanding genetic ratings capable of producing Black-Type results.

Seven Veils is bred on the SHALAA (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) x REDOUTE’S CHOICE (DANEHILL) Cross.

Invincible Spirit is the Sire of SHALAA whilst Redoute’s Choice (who is a son of Danehill) is the Broodmare sire.

SEVEN VEILS winning a Gr2, is now the 3rd Individual Stakes Winner for SHALAA out of Danehill line mares.

The others are Gr1 Winner NO SPEAK ALEXANDER and Gr3 and Magic Millions Winner SHAQUERO.

Gr1 Winner NO SPEAK ALEXANDER

Seven Veils has become the 6th Individual Stakes Winner in Australia bred on the INVINCIBLE SPIRIT x REDOUTE’S CHOICE mares cross.

She joins previous stakes winners: SHAQUERO, OVERSHARE, SUPREME IDEA, MUNTASEERA and LARIMER STREET.

Whilst the INVICIBLE SPIRIT x DANEHILL cross has now produced 53 Stakes Winners including 5 Gr1 Winners. They are HOME AFFAIRS, LOVING GABY, OXTED, PERSIAN KING and NO SPEAK ALEXANDER.

The team at Dynamic Syndications are very aware of the potency of this cross and the increased opportunity for the cross to produce stakes class horses.

GERRY HARVEY has purchased 25% in our Colt

So too is Magic Millions Owner, leading businessman and significant thoroughbred breeder GERRY HARVEY.

At the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sales Gerry Harvey offered a super colt he had bred – Lot 902 by SHALAA from Darby’s Bid by REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

This is the same magical Cross that SEVEN VEILS is bred on - by SHALAA out of a daughter of REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

A lovely looking, athletic individual, that we believe can be an early 2yo type, he was late in the sale on the Saturday evening and we were able to buy him for a terrific price of $80,000 + GST.

Gerry loved the colt so much and has a great strike rate of success with horses Dynamic Syndications purchase from him, that he advised he would buy 25% of the colt to race him with us to attempt to win his own Magic Millions in 2023.

The win of SEVEN VEILS at Gr2 level and now she will line up in the Golden Slipper, just 2 months after we purchased our Colt, proved our belief in the Cross in the first instance that drove us to inspect LOT 902 and when he was sound and right of wind and limb with clean X-rays and a Grade 1 endoscopic evaluation, it was a no brainer to buy him.

And with Gerry jumping back in for a leg (25%) you won’t need a better endorsement than these factors combining.
