SIRILEO MISS Goes Back To Back in Gr3 Ladies Day Vase

The Pride Of Dubai mare SIRILEO MISS showed her appreciation for the track and distance when going back to back in the Group 3 Catanach's Ladies' Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield on Wednesday 12/10/22.

Ridden by Ben Melham for trainer Symon Wilde, SIRILEO MISS led all the way to defeat Belle Plaisir (Proisir) by 1.25 lengths with Glory Bound (Tavistock) a further half-neck back in third.

A $60,000 purchase at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, SIRILEO MISS advances her record to 17 starts: 7 wins, 3 seconds, 1 third earning $577,200.

"Symon was worried about her first-up, because he was unable to get gallops into her,” jockey Ben Melham said.

“She peaked the other day, although she got going again through the line. The ground here today was a concern, but Symon was adamant she would handle it.

“I knew she would have to be fit because the path we coursed was quite away off the fence. That was a concern second up at this trip, but Symon is a very good trainer and proved that here today.

“She travelled strongly in front, and they headed her on the turn, so it was a good tough effort to fight back and win.”

SIRILEO MISS is a half-sister to stakes-placed Sophia's Choice (Fastnet Rock).

The daughter of Pride Of Dubai is the best to date of seven winners from as many to race out of the winning Galileo mare She’s Sirius.

She’s Sirius is a half-sister to Listed VRC Ottawa Stakes winner Spectrolite.

She’s Sirius foaled a filly by King’s Legacy on August 28.

Our mare is a half-sister to SIRILEO MISS.

NOTIONS has raced on 11 occasions: 4 wins, 2 Seconds and $111,465.

She is a Sydney Winner and Placegetter winning from 1200m to 1900m and is a last start winner at 1900m on a Heavy Track at Canterbury on 3rd August.

When we purchased her, the filly had raced once, for an unplaced 6 or 8 in a 1000m Maiden on the Sunshine Coast.

Back then, SIRILEO MISS had won just two races and no black type.

Now she is the winner of 7 races including 2 x Gr3 wins and a Gr3 placing.

Another half-brother named Styleman - Dragon Pioneer (H.K.) (g by Zoffany (Ire)) didn’t appear on the pedigree page at that time.

He has now won 3 races at 1000m to 1200m and A$47,600, HK$2,512,350, inc HKJC Ma Wan H., St George's Challenge Cup, 2d VRC Planet Ruler H., HKJC Tai Po H., Staunton H., 3d MVRC Art Series Hotel Group H., HKJC Ruby H.

Since we purchased NOTIONS, she has raced 10 times for our ownership team, for the 4 wins and 2 seconds and $111,065 in earnings.

NOTIONS had a short let-up and is ready to return to the track and holds a nomination for Warwick Farm next Wednesday over 1400m.

NOTIONS is promising her ownership team a lot of fun in the coming months and we believe this will be her best racing preparation to date.
