Lightly raced three year-old
Majestic Colour (3g So You think x Vivid Diamonte, by Fastnet Rock) extended his winning run to four on the trot at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with a commanding victory in the
$200,000 Group 3 Winx Stakes (1600m), adding even further progeny racetrack success to an already stellar season for his super sire
SO YOU THINK.
Majestic Colour returns victorious
Majestic Colour became the 43rd Stakes Winner for SO YOU THINK and importantly he is the 12th Australian Stakes Winner this season plus SO YOU THINK has sired 13 Stakes Placegetters this season as well.
SO YOU THINK - Wonderful Season
The gelding broke his maiden at his third start on May 4 before reeling off wins at Ipswich and Doomben prior to his first Black Type success on the Sunshine Coast.
Ridden by James Orman, he strode to the front after turning for home and made light of the
heavy 10 track to win by two lengths.
"It was a good win and he's been putting them away quite easily at midweek grade,” said James Orman.
"A big step up here today, but he's gave me the feel of a really good horse. Maybe he got through the track better than everything else. He's a progressive horse."
Majestic Colour has
four wins and a second from six starts with prizemoney just shy of $180,000.
Trainer Kelly Schweida said
"They (the owners) have been very patient with him. He's taken a bit of time, he has an unusual action, but he's won four-from-four this preparation so, we’re really pleased for the owners and the staff at home.
"He's by SO YOU THINK so you'd think he'd get 2000 metres on his ear, and he can handle the wet. That was the bonus for us today and he's a progressive type.”
Majestic Colour is the first winner from Vivid Diamonte, a
Fastnet Rock (by
Danehill) mare.
DANEHILL line mares are the magical cross for SO YOU THINK (a son of High Chaparral).
This is the
12th Stakes Winner along with 12 Stakes Placegetters bred on the rated cross which includes
4 Gr1 winners: QUICK THINKER, NAKEETA JANE, D’ARGENTO, INFERENCE, along with
Gr2 Winners PALAISIPAN, FASIKA, Gr3 Winners THOUGHT OF THAT, THE PINNACLE, and now
MAJESTIC COLOUR, plus
Listed Winners SO YOU ASSUME, ILLATION, NORTHWEST PASSAGE.
Whilst SO YOU THINK’s own Sire HIGH CHAPARRAL has now produced 66 Stakes Winners from Danehill line broodmares.
SO YOU THINK now has a career resume of 697 Runners: 481 Winners (69%) with 75 Stakes Horses made up of 43 Stakes Winners including 9 Gr1 Winners and 32 Stakes Placegetters.
Of his Stakes Placegetters 30 of the 32 are race winners as well.
That confirms that 73 of 481 Winners (15.2%) have earned black type!
That stat shows that SO YOU THINK is siring a Stakes Horse for every 6.5 winners!
That’s getting into the freakish category.
He stands at
Coolmore Stud this 2022 spring season at a
Service Fee of $93,500.
His Service Fee has risen 21.5% from $77,000 in 2021 which was up 100% from $38,500 in 2020.
In the helter-skelter world of thoroughbred racing we can tend to forget the racetrack deeds of racehorses.
This is so true of SO YOU THINK. For example, did you remember that SO YOU THINK:
Champion 3YO Colt in Australia in 2009-10.
Champion Miler in Australia in 2010-11.
Champion Older Horse in Ireland in 2011 & 2012 (Int.).
Won 10 Gr.1 races with earnings of $8.9 million across both hemispheres and in the process defeated over 75 individual Gr.1 winners?
Did you remember SO YOU THINK was Rated 133 by Timeform – That placed him as the highest-rated Australian Colt of the modern age?
Did you remember he won the WS COX Plate as both a 3yo and 4yo?
Did you remember he won three (3) Group 1 Races in the Northern Hemisphere including the Royal Ascot Prince of Wales Stakes?
