Coolmore Stud have an exciting first-season sire on their hands with their
unbeaten racetrack superstar and USA Triple Crown hero
JUSTIFY represented by his first black-type winner when
STATUETTE maintained her unbeaten record winning the
Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh.
Catch me if you can - but they couldn't as STATUETTE wins the Gr2 Airlie Stud Stakes
Coolmore must be rubbing their hands together with glee with sensational sire
JUSTIFY.
Sire - JUSTIFY
He is off to a simply unbelievable start as a stallion.
He has already produced two (2) black-type horses from his 8 individual runners.
He has 4 winners and 3 placegetters including Gr2 Winner STATUETTE and the unlucky LR runner-up TAHOMA, whilst 6 of his 8 runners have either won or placed on debut.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien expressed his delight with his
2yo filly STATUETTE as she took her record to two wins from two starts with a determined
Group 2 victory in the Airlie Stud Stakes (1200m).
STATUETTE winning on debut at Navan
Last month this imposing looking filly was an impressive debut winner at Navan, getting her sire off the mark in Europe, and she certainly looks set for bigger and better things to come for Aidan O'Brien and her
co-owners Coolmore, Westerberg and Merriebelle Stables.
STATUETTE was more far more matter of fact about her winning work in this
Gr2 victory.
As the gates crashed back, she was away smartly and during the early part of the run, she sat just off the pace set by Matilda Picotte and Badb, before
jockey Ryan Moore started to ask more of his mount over a furlong out and once the 4-6 favourite ($1.60) hit top gear, there was little doubt about the winner, even though the margin of victory was only three-quarters of a length from Badb, Statuette was always in control.
STATUETTE proves too strong for Badb in the Gr2 Airlie Stud Stakes
“She’s a very big filly and we were only training her three-quarters ready because we had our eye on the last part of the season,” said Aidan O’Brien.
“With that type of filly if you train them too hard you wouldn’t have her at the end of the season when you want her.
“She’s 16 2 ½ (hands high), for a two-year-old filly. We were delighted, we were a little bit worried when the ground got soft that she could have got very tired but obviously just her class got her through.
“She travelled lovely and Ryan nursed her, she won lovely in the end and we were very happy.
“She has a beautiful mind, great stride and an unbelievable physique. We think the Justify’s are something to look forward to.
“She’s a half-sister to Tenebrism but she’d carry her on her back as she’s a massive big powerful filly this one.
“She’s probably not as precocious as normal for a filly running at this time of year, but she has so much class she was able to run and do it rather than us making her do it.
“When she was able to do it, we didn’t like stopping her, but at the same time we weren’t chasing her in any way at home.”
Corporate bookmakers Coral and Betfair have
installed STATUETTE 10-1 early market favourite for the Gr1 1000 Guineas, and when asked if she could be a Guineas filly, O’Brien added:
“We think she is. She’s a filly with a lot of class and you’d imagine she’d have no problem getting a mile.
“The Moyglare, the Cheveley Park, all those races are there for her. Obviously, we have the filly that won at Ascot (Meditate) as well. The lads will probably keep them apart.”
Bred by Coolmore associates Orpendale, Chelston, Wynatt and Merriebelle Stables,
STATUETTE is the fifth foal out of
Immortal Verse (by Pivotal), the winner of the Gr1 Prix Jacques Le Marois and Gr1 Coronation Stakes.
Immortal Verse was sold for 4.7 million guineas at the 2013 Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
Immortal Verse also has produced
Statuette's three-parts sister
Tenebrism by (Caravaggio) -
European Champion 2-Year-Old Filly, and winner of the Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes.
Immortal Verse, is out of stakes winner
Side of Praise, and is also a half-sister to the dam of stakes winner and Group 1-placed
Roseman.
This is also the family of multiple Group 1 winner Last Tycoon, Group 1 winners Sense of Style and Valentine Waltz, and many other stakes winners.
Immortal Verse had a colt from the first Irish-bred crop of Wootton Basset this year and is in foal to JUSTIFY.
Whilst
Statuette's sire JUSTIFY was equally as prolific on the racetrack,
unbeaten when winning all six starts in his one and only race preparation as a three-year-old including the
USA Triple Crown of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes in the summer of 2018.
His first black-type placegetter came in the shape of
TAHOMA, a colt who had won stylishly on debut and then was extremely unlucky when runner-up in the Fasig-Tipton Futurity Stakes LR at Santa Anita last weekend.
The son of Scat Daddy retired to Coolmore's American base of Ashford Stud at a fee of
$150,000 for the 2019 breeding season.
This win by STATUETTE is great news for DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS!!!

It is at this section of the
3rd Dam of the female family that
DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS filly by JUSTIFY x TINGU (FR) descends.
IMMORTAL VERSE whose leading progeny to date is a three-quarter sister to last season’s Gr1 Cheveley Park S. winner
TENEBRISM (by Caravaggio), has a Wootton Bassett colt on the ground and was bred back to
JUSTIFY last year.
This is a simply
brilliant female family that has been
cultivated and grown out by Coolmore Stud and is ranked in the top two families that Coolmore have developed.
Our team at Dynamic Syndications align and work closely with Coolmore Stud and we were very much aware of the strength and depth of this female family
TINGU (FR) is from and what was in the pipeline.
We believe in the stallion on both his racetrack ability and his genetic balance. When you match this information to a sensational type of individual, who is then passed sound and right in wind and limb by your vet, the confidence grows.
The
only question mark on dirt raced North American horses is
"how their progeny will handle turf?"
STATUETTE has smashed away that fear when
she demolished her peers twice including at Gr2 level. Whilst
UNLESS ran third on debut at Leopardstown
What is
most exciting about
JUSTIFY two-year olds is that
they are winning these early 2yo races.
JUSTIFY didn’t race as a 2yo himself and was
a brilliant racehorse from 1400m to 2400m. He won 6 races in 6 starts including 4 Gr1 Wins by a combined margin of 24 lengths!
Our daughter of JUSTIFY ex TINGU (FR) is from this sensational female family and as we state on our website pages about the filly;
“You don’t buy into fillies like this – you invest!”
5% Shares are $13,300 inc GST and includes ALL COSTS from purchase to 30 June 22.
Just have a look at this filly for yourself !
