Recording another 2 Race Wins over the weekend,
exciting young gun sire JUSTIFY continues to hold his place as the
Leading First Crop Sire in the USA.
JUSTIFY - LEADING FIRST CROP SIRE in the USA
Justify sired his 8th Individual Winner on Friday at
Saratoga (NY) with
2yo filly Im Just Kiddin improving from being a debut runner-up, to record a
strong win at her next start.
Then on Sunday that was followed with
Justify siring his 3rd Individual Stakes Winner with
Justa Warrior remaining undefeated at
Ellis Park (Kentucky).
Importantly we are seeing that these
JUSTIFY Fillies are Flying as his
three stakes winners are fillies so far, plus he also has a
stakes placed colt from the super sire’s first
20 racetrack runners.
In all,
23 of
Justify’s first crop have faced the starter in the first
3 months of the new season in the
USA and
ALL 21 have earned prizemoney: 8 Winners (5 Fillies / 3 colts) + 7 Placegetters + 2 x 4ths and 4 x 5ths including a Gr2 Winner, a Gr3 Winner, a Listed Winner and a Listed placegetter.
There have been 8 Individual Winners including a Gr2 Winner Statuette, a Gr3 Winner Just Cindy and Listed Winner Justa Warrior plus Listed runner-up Tahoma.

Justa Warrior 'Justifies' Favouritism in Debutante Stakes with Easy Win
JUST A WARRIOR - too good in the Debutate Snakes Listed Race 1400m
JUSTA WARRIOR a $150,000 yearling, claimed her
second Race Win in
as many starts, and her
first Stakes Win, when scoring in the
$125,000 RUNHAPPY Ellis Park 2YO Fillies Debutante Stakes over 1400m in a field of 12 runners.
Her maiden win was an
eased down five-length romp at Ellis Park on July 22, and that effort was enough to secure
Justa Warrior the 5-2 favouritism status for Sunday afternoon’s event in her first look at
Stakes Company.
Jumping from the
outside barrier would prove to be no concern, with an extra furlong-and-a-half (300m) to work with, she
settled three wide behind the pacesetter Mor Lively (Mor Spirit).
Running wide throughout, and without cover, then swinging five wide around the bend and into the top of the straight, Justa Warrior quickly assumed command and took over.
She dashed away at the furlong marker and had so much in hand, she was allowed the luxury to be eased down when cruising to the post. She safely held off a closing Pachuca (Ghostzapper) over the final 100m to
win by a length on the line, running in 1:25.89 for the 1400m.
Her trainer John Ortis said:
“The barn and I were very high on her.”
“Physically looking at her, we always thought she was going to be a great horse. This was more like a workout for her. She just finished working this morning (Sunday) and she did the same thing: Sat three off and then goes by and opens up by two. She just likes passing. She likes the game. She enjoys what she's doing.”
Of his unbeaten 2yo filly, trainer John Ortiz added:
“Very thrilled. She showed me what she’s capable of here. We all know where this is going, or at least we hope so,” alluding to bigger Autumn engagements at Churchill Downs and/or Keeneland.
Jockey Gutierrez said,
“Her pedigree certainly kicked in today.”
Bred to be good, her female family is a who's who list of 'TDN Rising Stars' that includes her dam Gr1 Winner A Z Warrior (Bernardini), a $1.25m US yearling from the 2011 Fasig-Tipton November sales, and a trio of her dam's half-sisters (Gr1 placed Jojo Warrior {Pioneerofthe Nile}, Stakes Placed J Z Warrior {Harlan's Holiday}, and Gr1 placed E Z Warrior {Exploit}).
A Z Warrior has since produced a full-brother to today's winner, as well as a weanling colt by Uncle Mo. She was bred back to Curlin this season to produce a 2023 foal.
JUSTA WARRIOR winning on debut 22/7/22 by 5 lengths
Justa Warrior is by the
red-hot young sire Justify, and she is now is
2 for 2 after winning her debut on
July 22 by 5 lengths.
Justa Warrior is the
third Black-Type winner and fourth Black-Type horse for first crop
Coolmore stallion Justify (by Scat Daddy) who is currently the
Leading First Crop Sire in North America.
Justa Warrior’s Stakes Win comes on the back of Friday’s win by I’m Just Kidding, who became Justify’s eighth individual winner. No wonder he’s the USA’s hottest new sire.
Justify Filly IM JUST KIDDIN Proves She’s No Joke at Saratoga
IM JUST KIDDIN claims victory at her 2nd Race Start after being a debutant runner-up
Coolmore Stud America have an exciting first crop sire in
JUSTIFY who on Friday sired his
8th Individual Winner when taking the opening race at Saratoga.
His
2yo filly Im Just Kiddin (2f Justify x Khancord Kid, by Lemon Drop Kid) finished a
length in advance of Highway Harmony (2f Mo Town x Tweet Street, by Quality Road).
Racing over 1100m on the turf,
Im Just Kiddin raced a few lengths behind the leader Highway Harmony as it set the pace with an uncontested lead. Racing around the turn,
Im Just Kiddin showed off the
impressive turn of foot Justify’s first crop has been consistently flashing in their races, to chase down the leader.
Despite being wayward and quite green, when asked to extend in the straight
Im Just Kiddin showed another gear to collar the Mo Town filly in the final 100m with all the chasing peers three lengths behind the runner-up.
