Undefeated Sydney colt Russian Revolution is set to start a clear favourite for the Group 3 $150,000 KS Environmental Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Russian Revolution has been installed the short priced $2.30 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au and his trainer agrees with them and expects the
Snitzel colt to be very hard to beat.
“His trial was very sharp and he has travelled down in good order and I think he will run very well tomorrow,”
Russian Revolution has been to the races twice for two wins, claiming his initial win on protest in a 1100m two year old maiden at Canterbury on June 8 then backed that up with a two lengths victory in a 1200m two year old Plate at Randwick on June 25.
His trainer believes Russian Revolution improved immensely from his first start to his second and then showed further improvement following a ten day break before returning to the stable to continue his Spring preparation.
“He is a very nice colt. His first two wins, he won his first race on protest and he improved very nicely into his second win on a heavy track at Randwick and won accordingly,”
“He had a ten day spell out in the paddock to just clear his head just for timing into this Spring and to see how deep we do get with him.”
“He has certainly come back a completely different animal. The improvement is there to see.”
Connections have no reservations about Russian Revolution heading to Caulfield for the first time, a scenario that has proven to be the death knell for many Sydney trained horses.
“He has been prepared as much as we could along with a lot of the other horses we have taken down there so it is basically up to the horse as long as he can get around there, it shouldn’t be no worries,” Snowden said.
Russian Revolution has raced in or near the lead for his two wins to date but his co-trainer said he doesn’t have to lead in the Vain Stakes from barrier four for Mark Zahra.
“He doesn’t have to lead. He has shared the lead in his last couple of starts but it is basically pace related,” Snowden said.
“If he bounces well and nothing sort of takes him on, he could lead, he is not an aggressive horse and relaxes.”
SNITZEL has been in outstanding form in recent weeks and is Russian Revolution can score on Saturday it will be his 3rd New Individual Stakes-Winner in a week.
Dynamic Syndications currently has on offer a gorgeous daughter of Snitzel to be trained by the Queen of the Snitzel’s Gai Waterhouse.
