SAVABEEL our Cox Plate winning hero, and now New Zealand’s Super Sire, posted his 99th Individual Stakes Winner on Saturday at Rosehill when the Waikato Stud raised MISSYBEEL upstaged her fellow mares when she posted a courageous in the Gr.3 Epona Stakes.
MISSYBEEL winning the Gr3 Epona Stakes
The daughter of Savabeel enjoyed a gun ride from Tim Clark and was good enough to capitalise.
Missybeel settled in behind the leader and once she was into clear air, she quickly asserted her authority to spring a 26-1 upset.
It was Missybeel's sixth win from 32 starts but her first victory at stakes level.
SAVABEEL - SIRE
“She drew well and wasn’t pushed early.” Tim Clark said.
"She had a nice run and relaxed well.
"That gave her a good opportunity to finish off. She followed the right horse, the grey horse took me everywhere I needed to go.
"She sprinted up well and toughed it out really strongly.
“My mare got into a great rhythm and relaxed and that helped her to be strong as she was.
“She was rock-hard fit and it’s now a valuable stakes win for the mare.”
Her first stakes victory of Missybeel’s career significantly boosted her future broodmare value.
Bred by
Waikato Stud at Matamata, Missybeel was a $210,000 Inglis Sydney Easter Yearling Sale purchase and is a sister to the three-time winner Loveseat.
Their dam Sitting Pretty is an unraced daughter of O’Reilly and a half-sister to the four-time Group One winner Metal Bender.
It is also the family of the Group One winner and successful sire Keeper and the Gr.3 Aurie’s Star Handicap winner Broken.
This win by Missybeel was
Savabeel’s 8th Stakes Win for the 2020 Calendar year:
PROBABEEL (2), PRISE DE FER (2), SHOWBEEL, COOL AZA BEEL, ADELAIDE ACE, MISSYBEEL
Most importantly for the super sire, it was
SAVABEEL’s 14th Individual Stakes Winner out of a broodmare by O’REILLY.
O’REILLY mares have the best strike rate with SAVABEEL.
Dynamic Syndications purchased a fabulous filly by SAVABEEL at the NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sale this year out from a mare named BINGO a daughter of O’REILLY, so she is bred on this same cross as MISSYBEEL.
Overall, as at 25 March 2020, there has been 112 runners from O'Reilly mares: 83 Winners (75%), 14 Stakes Winners (17% SW:Wnrs), 13 Stakes Placed (24% Stakes Horses:Runners), earnings over $8.5 million and their average winning distance is 1600m.
Our filly will be trained by
RICHARD FREEDMAN at Rosehill.
