She has now taken her overall career to:
14 starts: 2 wins, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, 2 fourths, 2 fifths and $82,700.
At the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, TASK AND PURPOSE was offered for sale to dissolve her ownership.
She had been a $550,000 yearling at the Magic Millions sales in 2017.
TASK AND PURPOSE is a daughter of ZOUSTAR – the latest sire Sensation was Champion First Crop Sire last season and will be crowned Champion Second Crop sire when the premierships close in 3 weeks time.

TASK AND PURPOSE winning at Newcastle
TASK AND PURPOSE was a last start winner on the 18th May over 1400m at Newcastle for the Waller stable, just 10 days later the 3yo filly went through the sale ring to dissolve the original ownership.
She is a genuine Metropolitan Class filly.
From 13 previous starts before this win, she has been placed on 5 occasions in Sydney plus finished fourth twice.
Having done our due diligence homework, our team at Dynamic Syndications considered she had plenty of upside available to her to keep racing, instead of sending her off to stud in 2019.

After spirited competition in the auction ring, it was Dynamic Syndications who held the winning bid at $100,000, just a fraction of her yearling sale price. Within a blink, Dynamic Syndications had the filly carved up into her new ownership team.
Task And Purpose had just 3 race starts this preparation before being sold.
When we purchased her, we placed her onto a truck to Wild Oaks pre-training for a week’s trot and canter and then into Randwick to join Gai and Adrian.
We were tempted to go back to the races instantly, however after reconsidering our options, we elected to give her a few easy weeks. We then gave her a soft barrier trial to keep ticking over as we targeted a race down the line at Goulburn on Friday 12th July.
The race had flashing lights in the racing calendar. It was a 1400m Class 1 for Fillies and Mares.
It was a huge drop back in grade and with the opportunity to earn BOBS Bonuses coming to an end at the end of July, we felt it was a nice and easy kick off for her new owners to bank prizemoney.
We knew we would get a bit of weight, being a Benchmark 63 - 3yo Filly in a Fillies and Mares, Class 1 and were expecting to receive about the 59.0kgs however when the nominations closed, TASK AND PURPOSE was the highest Benchmark rated horse in the nominations and with the Rules of Racing requiring a 61.0kgs top weight, the handicap weights needed to be pushed-up 2.0kgs, giving TASK AND PURPOSE 61.0kgs.
We considered our options and having analysed the form and weights, we decided against claiming with an apprentice and instead, went for the best rider at the meeting, engaging Rachel King to use her experience, to offset a drop in weights for an apprentice.
We couldn’t believe it when acceptances were published, the field dropped away to just 5 runners and despite the formguide showing a gap between race starts and lumping 61.0kgs, on weights and measures, our rating sheets had her pegged as a $1.80 chance.
Then after the media started to question the weight and the space between races, commentators wanted to look around TASK AND PURPOSE.
That was fantastic as our filly started to drift in betting and went from opening early at $1.85 to $2.20, then blew again to $3.20 as they backed two Canberra trained horses to beat our Randwick filly.
Our owners were giggling as the price kept drifting and they got well overs.
When we did the form, tactically we had always intended to take a sit under the 61.0kgs.
We believed Serious Doubts and Lucky Siren would lead and we could come across and camp just behind the speed.
As the gates clanged back, Lucky Siren went to the front whilst Task and Purpose was also quickly into stride.
Rachel King started to roll forward under an illusion she was going to take up the running.
That flushed out the eventual runner-up Serious Doubts – a 4yo mare with only 56.5kgs on her back, getting a weight advantage of 4.5kgs (which equates to 3 lengths) to kick up underneath us, to try and hold TASK AND PURPOSE 3 deep.
Perfect – job done! as Rachel was able to ease back a length and get a lovely trail on the back of Lucky Siren in the one out / one back position for the next 600m.
After a furlong and a half, it was either poor tactics or a poorly judged ride (or both), Serious Doubts dashed 2 lengths clear as they passed the 1000m mark. Lucky Siren was still in second spot, one off the fence, as the eventual third placed Away She Goes snuck up underneath Lucky Siren to hold the fence.
TASK AND PURPOSE was 4 lengths off the speed still in the one / one with the $2.15 false favourite Fusch - two lengths behind us in the small field.
Going past the 800m mark, Serious Doubts increased its lead over Lucky Siren to 4.5 lengths with TASK AND PURPOSE now 6 lengths off the speed with 61.0kgs on her back and giving all the field weight.
Rachel King waited until the 600m mark but was starting to get anxious, as the leader was well in front and knowing it had a big head start and a big pull in the weights, she was becoming concerned about the gap.
So unfortunately, she had to take off a lot earlier than she had wanted, to reel in the leader.
Rachel steered TASK AND PURPOSE 4 deep to get the filly balanced under the big weight and away from any wayward runner that may bump her as they straightened into the teeth of a strong headwind.
Between the 400m and the 350m TASK AND PURPOSE let down a good burst and quickly reeled in the leader Serious Doubts and went to the front by half a length.
At the 100m mark, Rachel had TASK AND PURPOSE a length clear and in no danger. She was able to be kind to TASK AND PURPOSE over the final 100m to maintain her lead under hands and heels, to record an eventual 0.59 length x 3.61 length win.
It was a class ride by an inform jockey. Rachel rated our horse to advantage in a small field, in a race of interesting tactics.
Importantly for her new ownership team, there was an $11,200 prize cheque plus a $5,000 BOBS Bonus.

When interviewed post-race, Rachel King said:

“She definitely a filly with a bit of talent. It was a big step down in class today but she had to carry the big weight, especially into this kind of headwind – she was really tough.”
“The wind is very strong and that last furlong felt like we were nearly pulling up to a trot, so with 61.0 (kgs) on her back, she’s done a good job. The track is in good condition today, it’s just a shame about the wind.”
It was very satisfying that we were able to win this race first-up in the new Dynamic ownership.
It’s put a photo on the wall, money in their account to pay training fees and from our prospective, it was a soft win, not much more than a barrier trial and we have learnt a lot about the filly in the past few weeks. We believe there are plenty of opportunities ahead.
She is a metropolitan class filly that seems to have got lost in previous systems, but we believe being micro-managed, we can place her to advantage.
We know she will be a better next time through, as a 4yo mare but whilst she is happy, we will keep our option open.
