THINK WE’RE THERE Arrives Delivering Dynamic DEAMER Super Maiden Win
THINK WE’RE THERE Arrives Delivering Dynamic DEAMER Super Maiden Win

A genuine racehorse
who
tries each and everytime
he heads to the track,
THINK WE’RE THERE
had been the victim of below average racing luck in several of his previous starts. However, he kept showing our team that he wanted ground and just an equal opportunity to show his ability.
On Saturday at Newcastle,
THINK WE’RE THERE
finally arrived at the winning post
first
, and
got his photo taken
. With a dominant display claimed
Race 5,
FRANKYS FIVE-O 'JACK NEWTON' SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1880m)
a SUPER MAIDEN on a Good 4 recorded a Time of
1:56.26, Last 600m: 0:35.85
which is a
Class Record.
With
THINK WE’RE THERE
also being eligible for
BOBS Extra;
our
Dynamic galloper
was able to
bank $39,650 for his Ownership Team with this win.
Heading into this event as a luckless Maiden, it is proof positive of the old adage
“All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait.”
As frustrating as it had been,
THINK WE’RE THERE
had raced
nine (9) times for 3 second placings, a third and a last start fourth at Canterbury and had $29,150
in the bank account. Whilst 8 of those runs had been on a good surface, he found a Heavy track once and refused to travel in the conditions so had a reason at that start.
After winning at Newcastle, he takes his record to
10
starts:
1
-
3
-
1
-
1
&
$68,800
in earnings.
Our
Jason Deamer
trained
4yo son of
SO YOU THINK
ex
NOWHERETOSOMEWHERE
was purchased as a
“staying prospect”
from the
Inglis Classic Sale
and continues to give indications that he has the ability, and as a later maturing type, he may win a
few better class races
than this
SUPER Maiden.
However, this
Win
wasn’t all
“beer and skittles”
for our Dynamic galloper, as yet again
he found trouble
in running when other jockey’s had difficulties steering their mounts, causing
THINK WE’RE THERE
to receive the
backwash.
In fact, this win was
dominant.
He only saw daylight at the
125m mark
and was spotting the leaders a
length and a half,
but such was his finishing burst, he was able to be
eased down over the final 25m
and went on to
record a widening 1.14 length margin
whilst carrying
59.0kgs as top-weight,
starting at a price of
$5.50
over the $2.60 favourite Autumn Aroha, 56.5kg, whilst $3.90 second favourite Bearings 55.0kg finished a further 0.2 lengths back in third.
We had notified Stewards that
we intended to ride
THINK WE’RE THERE
further back
in the field, in a race in which we could see a fast tempo based on the speed maps. Having drawn soft and jumping from gate 2, we wanted to be positive for 100m then drop anchor, as the field began to sort itself out.
After the first 300m passing the 1600m, the field had worked itself out and
THINK WE’RE THERE
had landed 3 pairs back the fence, 5 lengths off the leaders.
Passing the 1200m, the field had really spread out over some 20 lengths as the
$150/1 despised outsider
with Jeff Penza on top, was thinking the race was an
Oakleigh Plate
rather than a
9.5-furlong trip
.
Approaching the home turn the tearaway leaders had come back to the field, which was bunching up and as a result,
Keegan Latham
was shuffled up with nowhere to escape.
At the 500m, he was able to steer off the heels of Sampson, the tired Waller runner, and got one off the fence but still had a wall of horses across the track in front of him as the field swung into the straight and balanced up for the run home.
At the 400m point, the eventual second and third placed runners had worked-up and wide. They were full of running down the centre of the track whilst our horse was still tight in a pocket with no room to escape.
At the 250m our owners and connections would have been cursing, believing yet again bad luck would have its way.
The race appeared over at the 150m marker, before the heavens opened-up a gap in front, and once
THINK WE’RE THERE
saw the space and Keegan urged him to take it, our horse changed gears and attacked hard.
In the next 50m,
THINK WE’RE THERE
firstly reeled in the length and a half of the leader, then gave it a cold as he sizzled past. Such was the explosion of raw pace, that the race caller wasn’t even looking back to the inside. He was calling the race as what was only happening out in the centre of the track with the runner up and third placed horses.
Such was his speed,
THINK WE’RE THERE
was pulling away and
Keegan had the luxury to ride out hands and heels,
and was able to
idle down
the last 25m to post for the dominant win.
A Well-Deserved Victory for an honest and talented type that our trainer JASON DEAMER has polished up and kept our horse, fit, well, interested and enjoying his sport.
JOB DONE!
A
Photo for the wall
and a
Richer Prizemoney
pool with an
extra $7,850
to the winner because it was a Super Maiden rather than a normal Maiden. Plus, an
$11,250 BOBS Extra
bonus for 4yo’s and upwards in races beyond 1800m.
Our Trainer Jason Deamer
took a video clip of his
post-race discussion with Keegan Latham.
Jason started by saying to Keegan,
“That was a lovely win.”
Keegan agreed saying:
“Yeah, a really good effort today. He was probably just a touch slow away, but the speed was definitely on in the early part, which was okay, because I got him to settle quiet nicely. He travelled like a winner – everywhere, and he was probably going to be in a little bit of strife for the best part of a furlong from the top of the straight to the 200m because I had a whole handful of horse with nowhere to go, but thankfully, it opened up and he shot through and won his race and I think he’s been rewarded for his consistency and hopefully, he wins top grade.”
Whilst the
Stewards Report Post-Race
noted:
“
Think We’re There
– Held up for clear running in the early stages and near the 300m was disappointed for a run between The Beast and Graysville, which shifted in.”
CONGRATULATIONS to our Dynamic Ownership Team for your patience and the Reward was this tremendous win
