Nobody had any doubts that genetics would produce outstanding results for
young gun Scone base trainer WILLIAM FREEDMAN who left the sanctuary of the stable life with his father
RICHARD and Uncle
MICHAEL – FREEDMAN BROTHERS Racing at
ROSEHILL and
RANDWICK, to prove to himself and the racing world that he will become the next chapter in the Famous
FREEDMAN Dynasty.
Like his father RICHARD, WILLIAM has the inherited “eye” desperately needed in the thoroughbred game.
Further, he has been a willing student of what was required in a tough industry to make a successful start to a training career.
Naturally for all young horse men and women who embark on a training career, it takes
time to build a clientele and fill the boxes with horses.
Never do they receive Ferrari’s but rather mostly clapped out Hyundai’s that need TLC and attention to detail to polish up into horses that can be competitive in a race – any race – anywhere - and be prepared to drive hours upon hours to deliver on their dreams and that of their owners.
WILLIAM FREEDMAN has a red letter day in his fledgling career on Monday at Dubbo when
he trained his career first double on a programme, as firstly the Emirates Park owned
LITTLE WHITE LIES scored in Race 4 over 1300m becoming the young trainers
9th race winner this season and that was followed by
Dynamic Syndications owned TIME TO DAZZLE who won impressively a true staying test when claiming the LIFELINE Benchmark 58 Handicap over the gruelling 2200m on a Soft 5 surface becoming Will’s
10th race winner for the season.
These two wins show the versatility of Will to train a sprinter and a stayer to win on the same programme.
This season is Will’s first as a trainer, and as fate would determine, TIME TO DAZZLE was Will’s First Winner on the 16th August 2020.
Now she has recorded his 10th race win and was the anchoring leg in Will’s first career double.
Will is doing a superb job for all his owners and the stats prove it.
Will has saddled up 66 Runners = 10 Wins, 5 Seconds, 8 Thirds and earned prizemoney of $228,830.
That is an extremely high
15.2% strike rate of Winners:Runners and a
34.8% Strike Rate of Placegetters:Runners.
TIME TO DAZZLE (NZ) is a 4yo Bay Mare by MAKFI (GB) from FORELSA (NZ) and a horse that appreciates give in a track and a trip from
2000m to 2400m.
Fourth up from a spell and for the first time this preparation out to a trip that suits her pedigree, in a race that was as open as the Sydney heads with betting having two equal favourites at $6.50 (both unplaced),
TIME TO DAZZLE ($7.00) defeated Careering Away ($7.50) by 0.61 length with Harwok’n’zoff ($13) a further 1.08 length back in third in a time of 2:20.77.
TIME TO DAZZLE won impressively over this marathon event for country class horses when asked to lump 58.0kgs for a mare against the boys and spot all bar one of her opponents’ weight.
In a race that was run hard upfront and having the field of 11 runners spread out over a lot of territory mid-race, a perfect 10 out of 10 ride by
Clayton Gallagher sealed the fate of her peers, as the superior stayer registered a well deserved and morale boosting win.
The plan was to always be positive but try to get cover in a forward position, Clayton displayed excellent horsemanship skills because as the gates crashed back he had our mare rolling forward as two runners underneath him both had intentions to lead and hold us wide.
Allowing the field to sort themselves out underneath him Clayton guided across and slipped into the best position, one pair back on the fence with cover, as the field started to spread out and that’s how it stayed until the race started to develop from the 600m, as those behind started to give chase and the field started to compact as they approached the home turn.
Saving ground closer to the fence and with a trail on the back of the leaders, it started to become a traffic jam as the field thundered into the home straight.
Then at the 250m the gap opened, and Clayton guided
TIME TO DAZZLE off the heels of the runner-up to give chase. Spotting the leaders 3 lengths and with horses swooping out wide, the race was appearing to turn into a battle of attrition and a very busy finish. However superior staying genetics kicked-in and
TIME TO DAZZLE responded to Clayton’s call to action and stride-by-stride, the
Dynamic Duo reeled in the leaders and those chasing had no answers.
Over the final 100m
TIME TO DAZZLE gained the lead and was pulling away for a widening 0.61 length victory on the line to the shouts and cheers of her loyal owners.
TIME TO DAZZLE took her career to 14 starts: 3 wins, 0 seconds, 2 thirds & $50,885 Prizemoney.
She is a mare that has now won at
1600m, 2000m and 2200m. She is much happier on a rain affected surface, where she has now accumulated her
3 Wins on affected ground, being
Soft: 5:2-0-0 and Heavy: 3:1-0-0.
Purchased as a yearling for
$120,000 by Paul Moroney Bloodstock for trainer Michael Moroney she had
7 starts in Victoria for a Maiden win over 2000m and twice she ran third.
She was offered for sale on an
Inglis online auction and we felt she would be a
nice mare for Will to commence his training career and Dean Watt Bloodstock on behalf of Dynamic Syndications for just $15,000.
TIME TO DAZZLE when we purchased her
As it has proved, Will has now had the mare for
7 starts for 2 race wins, his
1st win and his
10th win.
