On Monday morning nine (9) 2YO Heats over 850m were conducted on the Kensington track where some promising 2yo’s faced the starter and came away generating interest in the upcoming 2yo races which get under way on 4th October. There was plenty of chatter pre and post the trials about promising 2yo's who lived up to the hype and those that didn't live up to expectation.
The take-aways from the morning were:
Six of the Nine Heat Winners were trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. Two heats were won by provincial based trainers Mitchell & Desiree Kearney, whilst the other Heat winner was trained by Bjorn Baker.
There were three (3) main highlights along with several black bookers and talking points that came through the morning Heats.

SHIKI
Firstly, the pacesetting 2YO of the morning was SHIKI who won Heat 8. The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Filly is a daughter of Too Darn Hot / Jest Excel who was simply “too darn quick” when she stopped the clock for the 850m in an ultra-professional display at 49.46 with a last 600m in 33.46.

HOME AFFAIRS - Sire
The Second Highlight was the performance of the two (2) first crop runners by HOME AFFAIRS. His progeny (1 colt and 1 filly) won the first two Heats.

I’M YA HUCKLEBERRY
Heat 1 was won by the very impressive colt I’M YA HUCKLEBERRY ($400,000 Magic Millions) who scored in his heat by 2.39 lens in 43.54 with a Last 600m in 33.28. There was plenty left in the tank and the colt was impressive.

HOME INVASION
Then his daughter HOME INVASION (Home Affairs / Catwalk) $220,000 Magic Millions claimed Heat 2 by 1.92 lengths in 50.63 and 33.71.

STAY INSIDE - Sire
The Third Highlight was the performances of the first crop progeny by STAY INSIDE. The Golden Slipper winning Champion 2yo appears to have passed on his ability to his progeny.

EVICTION NOTICE
The Gai and Adrian trained colt named EVICTION NOTICE (Stay Inside / Euroboss) $375,000 Magic Millions won for fun, Heat 3 posting a slick, eased down, 7.82 lengths margin in a quick 49.53 with a super last 600m in 33.19. STAY INSIDE had six of his progeny face the starter, and he also produced placegetters THE MACHINE GUN (Stay Inside / Don'ttelltheboss) (3rd Heat 1), IGNITION CODE (Stay Inside / Isa Rocket) (3rd Heat 4), OUR EMPEROR (Stay Inside / Our Crown Mistress) (2nd Heat 5), INCOGNITO (Stay Inside / Bleu Zebra) (3rd Heat 9).
Black Bookers:

Colt: EVICTION NOTICE (Stay Inside / Euroboss)

Filly: SHIKI (Too Darn Hot / Jest Excel)

THE WILDLING (Wild Ruler / Tarabai) ($100,000 Magic Millions) also trained by Gai and Adrian, finished third in Heat 8 (fastest) beaten 0.83 len, but it should be a “Black Booker” having set the fast tempo and doing the hard work before the effort told with 50m to run and she got tired late. With natural improvement she appears to be worth following.

PARADOXIUM (Extreme Choice / Paredo) $400,000 Magic Millions was beaten 2.39 but challenged the leader until it got tired with daylight back to third.

OH YES SHE DID (Yes Yes Yes / Lanikai) $240,000 Inglis Classic won Heat 4, in 50.58 and 34.09 however had plenty up its sleeve and was cluttered up in behind the leaders and only saw daylight at the 200m and won pulling away. May find the 1000m a bit sharp but when they step out further later in the season, she will be work an investment.

MASVINGO (Zoustar/Rotator) $580,000 Magic Millions one to follow. Heat 6 winner ran 50.23 and 33.65 but did it with ease. Sat at the girth of the leader and having got the better of that runner worked to the line strongly from the 100m with class. Look for it over further deeper into the season.
SIRES TO FOLLOW:

TOO DARN HOT (Dubawi) Stands for $275,000 at Darley, NSW
The numbers don’t lie, Too Darn Hot is rewriting the record books. His first Australian crop has outpaced the likes of Redoute’s Choice, Zoustar, and Fastnet Rock at the same stage of their careers.
Last season, he produced 10 Stakes winners, including seven at Group level. Among them were standout Gr1 colt Broadsiding, Gr2 winners Shanwah, Too Darn Discreet, Rivellino and Too Darn Lizzie, Gr3 winners Tropicus and Arabian Summer, plus Listed scorers Silmarillion, Superalloy and Perspiration with another seven Stakes performers on the rise. It’s a remarkable trajectory and a clear sign he’s just getting started. Day 1 of the new crop of babies and his daughter SHIKI lead the way with improvement up her sleeve. Fantastic sire.

HOME AFFAIRS (I Am Invincible) Stands for $82,500 at Coolmore. Two Runners = 2 Winners. A Colt and a Filly. Perfect results for the dual Gr1 winner of the Coolmore Stud S., and the Lightning.

STAY INSIDE (Extreme Choice) Stands for $66,000 at Newgate Winner and 4 placegetters for the Golden Slipper Winner

WILD RULER (Snitzel) Stands at Newgate, NSW at $27,500. Thought the deeds of his daughter THE WILDLING for the first crop sire WILD RULER showed genuine merit. Last week in Melbourne at the Flemington jump-outs, the buzz was on a WILD RULER filly named FACE THE WILD from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy stable. She cruised home to win her jump-out in impressive style and is heading towards either the Maribyrnong Trial (Oct 4) or the Debutant Stakes (Oct 11). WILD RULER (Snitzel) is showing his progeny are worth following.
